Default trace memory hint

Okay, I'm near the end (chapter 5?), trying to open the door to the lab (the one with a number keypad and a window above). I see the faint writing on the window but I don't recognize the symbol. Have no idea what the code is or where to look for it.

I don't want the answer, but can someone give me an idea of where I should be looking?

All I can say is that you are looking in the right place...

That's what I was afraid of.

Thanks, I'll keep trying.

Just remember that this isn't the average adventure with the average solutions to puzzles, if you catch my drift...

I've already turned the DS upside down, around, and sideways trying to get a better look at that window...

Okay, back to the drawing board.

EDIT: I've really enjoyed the game so far. A few of the puzzles were tricky but this is the first time I've felt both stuck and completely incapable of figuring out what to do next. But maybe I'm just getting antsy because I know it's almost over.

All righty... I finished the game, and I am a little confused about something.

Spoiler:
Did Henry shoot Thomas, or did Thomas commit suicide?

Also, is there any reason to replay the game? Is there a chance for different endings (like if I had chosen different options when Ashley's deciding whether to use the machine) or do they always lead to the same place? With only the two save slots, it's not going to be that easy to go back and try things unless I start over from the beginning, so I'm wondering if it's worth it.

Spoiler:
Did you free the kid's spirit?

If you start a game using the same save file, there are a few minor changes, but nothing big, the cards you find say something different I think...

I think so.

Spoiler:
He figured out what happened to him and then in the epilogue he faded into the sky...

I was a little annoyed that you couldn't save the game at all in the last chapter. I had taken some Nyquil and got really sleepy while I was playing that chapter but I couldn't save, so I just sort of rushed through it.
