Fahrenheit help

Can someone, anyone PLEASE tell me how to do ANYTHING in this demo? I can't get the guy to interact with a damn thing. All these icons keep popping up and I smash every button and NOTHING HAPPENS. I've tried it with both a controller and a keyboard/mouse, and I still can only walk around the bathroom. Either I'm retarded or this game is. Someone please tell me how to play it. The only thing I can get to happen is to pop up the PDA. Nothing else. How do I open the door? What buttons am I supposed to press? This is insanely irritating.

The icons that pop up allow you to do different actions. Say you walk up to the sink and a "Wash" icon appears. What you do then is click and hold the left mouse button, then drag the mouse in the direction the icon tells you to.

Excellent, thanks for that. I was going mad. Mostly because I was trying to play with the controller and I still haven't been able to figure out how to use it properly. Second axis? I don't have one. I have the D-Pad, four buttons, and two triggers. What kind of controller do I need for this? Since it's coming out for PS2, XBox, etc, I'm guessing you need a pad like those? Is my understanding that if I want to play this game with a controller that I'll have to buy one with multilple directional pads? Or is there a way to play it with the controller I already have?
