Default Wanna Hear A Story?

Well, here it is.

It is maybe a week until my birthday. I recieve a card in the mail. Out falls twenty-five dollars. This tickles my fancy very much. I make my way to the local game trading post called Game-X-Change. I look around. The bargain bin games were $2.95. A great deal. I spy Mortal Kombat II for the SEGA Genesis. It saddens me to leave such a great deal behind me, but I don't have a SEGA Genesis. I look at the display case. I look at the consoles. It seems they were having a sale, because I see a SEGA Genesis for twenty bucks. I was excited. I happily walked out of the store with a SEGA Genesis and Mortal Kombet II. I've got time to waste and seven dollars to spare. I go the EB a block from there. I look at the bargain bin again. Another great deal. A game I've been trying to find for a while, Beyond Atlantis II, for six dollars.

Today was a good day.

Oh man! you make me laugh
You go to the store with $25 and come away with 2 games and a console - how freaky is is that?

This could only happen in the US

You should only have had $2 to buy Beyond Atlantis 2! My faith in math is crushed!

There's a chain of stores called Gamestation in the UK that usually has a stock of pre-owned consoles. You can get some classics like the SNES for very, very cheap.

My local Gamestation is totally committed to old consoles. It's amazing. Sega CD, Jaguar, Dreamcast... the Dreamcast is under £20 now too. Every time I go there I spot a Megadrive game I'd played in the past... chortling at Altered Beast... it's like a treasure trove of ancient gaming masterpieces!

Nice work S&M! That was indeed a good day.

I still have my Megadrive stuffed away in a cupboard somewhere. Break it out every few years to play Flashback and Another World ('Out of this World' in the US I believe). Those two are just about the fondest memories of my gaming youth.

Now, if only I still had my Master System II with Speedball 2

Tell me more.

I think I need to visit some Gamestation shops in October.

Awesome to hear. The first two Mortal Kombat were just awesome on the Mega Drive, be sure to use the cheat codes for extra options, they're really cool.

Well, the one nearest me is in Bromley. It's like a treasure trove of ancient games! Seriously, it's more a museum now than a shop. I'm kicking myself for not investing in some stuff from there - every console under the sun (that Jaguar was tempting), crazy amounts of SNES and Megadrive titles... top stuff!

I think there's a branch in most major towns/cities. There's one in Cardiff, and one in Swansea. Out of all two of the big cities in Wales, there's a store in both. I like those odds!

Unfortunately, my two local Gamestation's dont sell that many really rare games. Just new-ish games that are used and cheap.
I'd also like to mention that the copy of Thief I bought for 2 quid had a cutscene problem where they would work and not work at random in the game.

That's nothing to do with the game itself, it's a Media Player thing I think. I have the same problem too. Go here and scroll down for Scrooge's Permanent Movie Fix, it should fix you up good.
