First look: Alan Wake (from the makers of Max Payne)
:D It's been mentioned here before, but I figured I'd make it 'official' this time.

On a decision to try to start over, he moves to the small town of Bright Falls in the northwest part of the U.S. Soon thereafter, strange things happen and he finds that with the onset of night the horrors of his stories come to life. It looks to be that dynamic light and darkness are the central driving forces for the story and gameplay, thus will rely on constantly shifting moods and atmosphere. Daytime will seem relatively safe, but nighttime brings on horrible moments. Other than that we know next to nothing. Highly recommended: Low res trailer, High res trailer |
OMG! Could be my game. Somehow I didn't get much out of Max Payne. What an amazing concept.

Looks good, but I have my doubts this game will ever see the light of day. Ask me why ask me why.

Because most titles that are announced for future game systems, unless they're blockbuster sequals, never make it in the end. I hope this one gets through, but if history truely repeats itself, it'll be dead before x360 sees the light of day.

It looks like Stephen King and Silent Hill mixed up in a juju bag, with a few of those hooded Loom figures thrown in for extra flavour. :9~

:D So, anyone see the trailer yet?

I think there's a good chance that Alan Wake will be a successful launch title for the consoles, along with Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Madden MCXII or something. :D MS have some really strong game companies working with them.

Good.
And remember, Max Payne was once thought to have disappeared during its development period, too. :D BTW, you still looking forward to Duke Nukem Forever? :P |

A truly captivating trailer, and it looks to be an extraordinary game! Beautiful, and I don't mean the graphics! Why aren't more games centered around a premise that's like this: different, offbeat, small-scale and psychological?
And the biggest joke is that at the end of the trailer, we get a string of quotes from so-called industry professionals who are only gawking over the graphic beauty of the title. Shite. |
That's an exceptional looking title. After how they pulled Max Payne 2 out of the bag within a couple of months of releasing the first screens, makes me wonder if they've already finished it for release tomorrow! ;)
|
Sounds *a bit* like Silent Hill 2. I'm excited about that day/night cycle. Some amazing looking textures! 64 MB video RAM ought to be enough for anybody.

I believe that this game is still loooong way from being done. I think a release in late 2006 is more likely. This will be one of the greatest things I've ever played on a pc. That's how much faith I have in Remedy's "little" project. ;) I love the Twin Peaks meets Stephen King setting. Best thing about this game is that Remedy is funding the project themselves with the huge piles of money they got when they sold the Max Payne franchise name to Take2, they can do whatever they want and have no pressures coming in from 3rd party producers. |
By trailer you mean that old teaser, right?
I love the scenery, the woods, the mountains... Beautiful. |
No, there's a new one which shows Alan running to the lighthouse as the sun goes down. The camera tracks back to reveal a bunch of hooded people (?) in the darkness. It's great!
|
Yep - it's at the end of Intrepid's first post. My computer's severely allergic to that site, but the lengthy download was so, so worth it. :9~
|
It does indeed look amazing.
