Default Psychonauts Sales?

Psychonauts has been out for more than a month now. Does anyone have any reliable sales figure for the game? It's been getting good reviews everywhere so I'm assuming it's doing well but I haven't ssen it listed in a bestseller list anywhere.

Hmm, the xbox version sold little under 13000 in the USA during April?

I don't know anything about the pc figures or the May sales numbers for xbox.

I really doubt it's selling well.

It's not much but:

According to GameSpot, which uses EB's sales figures, Psychonauts was the 10th best-selling console game last week.

Maybe I should have posted this at the thumb? I thought there would be more excitement about the game than I have seen here. It's the 75th best selling Xbox game at Amazon. My, my, it's not selling very well, is it?

There really hasn't been any complete official sales number, so it's difficult to say. It was #10 on EB for a week as somebody stated, and there have been some brick and mortar numbers floating around, all of which I'd take with a grain of salt. I think I saw that it was fairly high up on the Amazon around release too.

I doubt it's selling amazingly well, though hopefully it has legs and will do well in the long run.

According to gamespot
Majesco made a profit this quarter, which hopefully means that Psychonauts is doing reasonably good.

^^^Expanding on that...

Jan E. Chason, Majesco's Chief Financial Officer commented, "Our record second quarter net revenues were driven by the introduction of Psychonauts for the Xbox and PC, double game packs (2 games in 1) value games, and continued strong sales of TV Arcade.

Majesco sees reversal in fortunes
Gamespot news, 6/7/05

Quote:
Majesco Entertainment today reported an almost $3 million increase in sales recorded for the quarter ending April 30, 2005. Citing the release of the Tim Schafer-designed Psychonauts (for the Xbox, released just 10 days before books closed on the quarter) as well as brisk sales of the $19.95 TV Arcade product line of plug-and-play games, the company took its quarter-on-quarter financials from a net loss of $49 million last year to a profit of $189,000 this year.

Anyone have a subscription to EGM? They usually list the top selling games of a month.

As much as more Psychonauts would be totally awesome - just finished playing it today - I would rather see a totally different game from Doublefine. Schafer said at some point that if he'd done a Full Throttle 2 he wouldn't have done Grim Fandango...

It'd be a shame to miss out on the wonderful new things Doublefine could come up with if they didn't devote their time to sequel-making.

Hey you know what they should do? Get Lucasarts to make the sequel. That ay, we get a sequel, AND a new game from Doublefine!!

I'm really looking forward to Double Fine's next project.

And it seems they are hiring again. Hmm.. 'Network game programmer'... interesting.

Schafer mentioned in an interview that he prefers not to make sequels, but instead likes to make one standalone game full of punch, then move on to a new challenge.

I would love to see the inside of Ford's mind, though.

I dunno, Jake. We may not be able to survive it. After all, he's practically been living on top of that huge ass psitanium rock, you might not wanna know the side effects.
