Ooooooh... goodie! I've been waiting for this. Now I can see if it'll actually work on my computer before I buy/preorder it. Then I just have to decide if I want the T-shirt or the deck of cards... Choices. Sigh.

It's very much a platformer with its game control and layout (hub overworld and dungeons) inspired by the 3D mario and zelda games, but it's also heavy on dialogue, character, story, and puzzles - in other words a real "action/adventure" hybrid that actually contains elements of both action games and graphic adventure games.

The part of the game seen in the demo is sadly very puzzle free since it mostly consists of the basic training level (er, make that basic braining), but it is loaded with great writing and great visual detail, and lots of corners to poke your nose in and explore around.

Downloading it now! The server is pretty fast, only 5 minutes for the download. Hoping that it will be bug free and playable on my system via gamepad, I would hate to cancel my pre-order.

Should have it in a couple of hours. Gamespot sucks though... having to sign up and everything. Gamershell should have it soon though!

There are some other mirrors to get the file from (if you don't want to sign up to download, or if you prefer using bittorrent), here

By the way: for a more adveutnre-like experience I recommend going into options --> controls --> camera settings and turning off "show goal popups."

That stops the in-game hint system from always popping up and telling you what to do (instead all your goals are listed in the journal when you pause the game).

Psychonauts has a habit of being a little overzealous with the mission objectives it doles out and turning them off can help urge you to explore a bit more.

I've been reading various message board posts about the demo and all have seem to like it. I hope my laptop will play it solid.

Woohoooo!

If the demo runs well, I'll assume the full version will as well, and I'll buy the PC version. If the demo runs poorly, I'll go for the PS2 version.

Now, if it would just download...
