By the way, be4 I get lynched for the candidates, I pretty much chose what most of the video game magazines considered the best games this year (through review scores). If there is any game not on the list that you would like to add, please feel free to do so.

Well, I haven't played most of those games. I would say Metal Gear Solid 3 is probably the best game of the year, but I haven't played that yet either. Of the games I have played this year, Syberia II is easily the best.

Mine is Half-Life 2. By a land slide.

Pretty easy for me. Half-Life 2 all the way. I just realized it's one of only two new games I've played this year. (Painkiller is the other one, but that doesn't begin to compare, although it was fun.)
All the other games that I've played came out in 2003 or earlier: Knights of the Old Republic, Ocarina of Time, Simcity 4, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time... all came out last year. EDIT: I cannot believe I forgot Far Cry. It still doesn't trump Half-Life 2, but it WAS new this year.

Oops, I can't read. World of Warcraft, all the way. Any game I can put over 48 hours into in less than two weeks... hmm, maybe I shouldn't share such self incriminating information

Judging by the candidates, this must have been one depressing year, man! I'm not excited about one of these titles, maybe Pirates! if it was an original game, but it's not so I can't vote for that either.
I'll abstain, for now.

The Moment of Silence. It's honestly the best game I've played this year.
I have to admit I'm not interested in almost all of the other games, with the only possible exceptions being RCT3, Rome: Total War and maybe Myst 4 but I'm unlikley to play any of them until they come out on budget. Maybe I'm going mad, but it seems to me like there are more games than ever coming out but far less choice than their used to be. Either that, or I'm turning into a 21yr old grumpy man.

I haven't yet played Pirates, Scrapland or Moment of Silence.
But those three are my candidates, along with the three best fps games in years: Farcry, DooM³ and HL2. Overall, this was a pretty great year for gaming, at least I think so.

Half-Life 2.
And Viewtiful Joe isn't a 2004 release.

*sigh* I haven't played any of those games (I blame my crappy, old PC).
Still, I can guess what I would like the most, and most certainly that would be HL2. On the AG side it would probably be MoS. |

And well, Half-Life 2 most likely (at least from that list), though I actually haven't yet played it. There might be other contestants (Moment of Silence?) but Halo 2 might come close, but not far enough (and of course something like GTA is just pure... well something describing its badness ) And there's a FIFA Football in there? At last it gets the recognition it needs... |
