Flying Game
Hey are there any flight combat games that u can recomend? I really loved crimson skies and wish they'd make another sequel, Actually i'd love a Sid Meier's Pirates like game, where u take your zepplin from state to state robbing and pillaging.

I don't think there are a lot of flight sim/combat games out there that can be compared to Crimson Skies - that game was in a league of its own.
However, you might want to take a look at Freelancer. It's somewhat similar since it's an action flight/combat-like game, except it takes place in space. You take on assignments, travel back and forth and so forth. There are demo versions around, it was released in early 2003.

Hehe, I didn't like Freelancer personally, gave up on it because everything was so limited. Still, it did get some nice scores from the media.

yeah i had freelancer and beat it, the storyline was ..decent. but the combat wasn't overly specuatular and the universe wasn't dynamic enough after beating the main game. I'll look into the pacific fighters game. I still like playing the original dynamix "Red Baron" i loved the promotions and the medals, and the flight patterns however red baron lacked the "Cruise" mode which would go into autopilot along ur flight route until u encountered enimies.

Pretty much off-topic but could someone recommend me a decent joystick for flying games (well, actually now just battlefield vietnam)? I recently bought a Logitech Extreme 3d Pro, but after 2 months it already lost its calibration (recalibrating it in various ways doesn't work, there's a logitech clearing tool but that doesn't work and neither does calibrating in windows), are there any more durable decent sticks out there? I paid 30€ for that one so I'd rather not pay much more than 80€ orso.

I picked up a microsoft sidewinder, this fall for $35 Cdn, at a local radio shack. The microsoft series of joysticks is definitely the way to go, it's a shame they discontinued making them. I'd look into bargain bins or check ebay for a "new" sidewinder.

I'm using a Thrustmaster Afterburner II with Force Feedback. About 40€. It's a great joystick.

If you don't mind space set games, You should try Freespace 2.
More of an action game than a true flight sim, has a really epic feeling story, excellent graphics for its age and some of the most beautiful nebulas ever to grace a computer screen.
