Makes ya feel better seeing results like that.

It won't be #1. I see DOOM III hoggin that, until Sims 2 is actually on the shelves, and even then, it'll be tough.

But still, a very positive result.

Up till recently, Grim Fandango, EMI and CMI were in the top 40 in the Gameplay charts, and have been for the last several weeks. At one point, CMI climbed up to 13!!

Exposure, I dunno how it's happened, but it's great.

Default WOOHOO! Nancy Drew's on the list.

It is really great to see an adventure game be very high on the Top Sellers list. I wonder after reading this, maybe Myst IV will be on the list or maybe one of the other anticipated adventure games that come out later this year. Maybe this will convince people to buy adventure games so the genre won't constantly be labeled as "Dead."

Man, this is really awesome! Way to go Nancy, and you too, Her Interactive!.

Feisar was a regular here at the forums, but has disappeared.

The reason I miss him is that he used to post more detailed versions of exactly this post. *sigh*

Problem is, there aren't enough adventures out there to save the genre. It is a game of probability. How many FPS's are released each year and they go unnoticed. But then one good one comes out and it revives the whole genre. I read yesterday that the lead in DOOM 3 commented on the fact that DOOM 3 and HL2 are competing for best game ever by saying that it really doesn't matter which one is. They both have different styles and they both advertise for each other.

When there are that many few adventures being released and by that many few publishers, no one is advertising for nobody. The odds do not favor adventure gaming too much.

Either way, both are selling trucks...

And Half Life 2 has a tough test ahead of it.

Which it will own. It will own it like a headcrab owns a scientist's scalp.

(By the way, is anyone pissed that it looks like they're not putting Otis in Half-Life 2? It just occurred to me. Otis was the MAN in OpFor.)
