Default Your favorite shareware games?

The online exclusives thread gave me the idea for this question. I personally love shareware games, having grown up with them in my youth when I couldn't afford to pay any of the registration fees. Now that I'm all grown-up (a fact that may be debated) I'd like to start looking into shareware again.

Since quality shareware titles aren't really newsworthy by most gaming publications, I thought a thread was in order.

What shareware games have you played that you just had to purchase? Share your favorites here! (Pun very much intended)

I don't think this is what you had in mind, but for me Doom really was the shareware game I HAD to purchase.

Oh, Commander Keen was great! I can't believe I parted with my 3 1/2 by 5 floppy of Keen Dreams a few years ago. Talk about a mistake.

I want to fry aliens in my pajamas now.

Actually ID were releasing shareware way before Doom, all their 2D Games, and Wolf 3D too were shareware.

Also, if anyone is still fond of it I believe there are a bunch of mods for it on moddb (Doom also)
