Beyond Good & Evil demo
UbiSoft released the demo for Beyond Good and Evil today, and Gamer's Hell has it. Unfortunately, the specs are a little beyond my computer, but if you download it and play it, feel free to post your impressions here. I'm looking forward to it, but I'll be waiting for the Xbox release.
You can also do a Bit Torrent download here. Quote:

I've been following this title for quite some time, and was very happy when rumors of its demise proved untrue. I myself am awaiting the PS2 version.

Wish someone around here would actually play it and post about it! I'm waiting for the Gamecube version actually That rounds it out nicely, eh?

I downloaded it, but it seems it doesn't work with Geforce FX. The game runs and i can hear voices and see text&text graphics, but there's nothing in main gameplay window... weird

I downloaded it, and it won't start! I get a black screen for 5 seconds and then it just returns me to the desktop. I tried all possible video/audio configurations, but it doesn't help anything

Updating my CATALYST drivers didn't help much either.

I wish I could play it!
Marek, it looks like a lot of people are having the same problem. Ubi has yet to give an official fix in their forum though. One guy did say the following though, Quote:

Well, it sounds great so far! The Gamer's Hell page did mention updating your Catalyst or Detonator drivers, though that doesn't seem to have been much help.

I played the demo. I have GeForce FX 5600. It runs perfectly. Game is nice, visuals are like Rayman series. In First level you have some hovercraft, and you have to shoot some alien. Second level is based on stealth, you have to go through the alien building and tak photos, unfortunately I got killed when alien chased me, I presume at the end of the level. I will definitely buy this one, Rayman 2 for me is the best platofrm game of all times, I am sure this one will be good too.

Naveed: so it does work on GF FX? Huh, i better check drivers then.
Btw, it's good to hear it's visualy in Rayman 2 style- for me, it's still one of the most beautifully stylized games (Rayman 3 is nice, but they lost some of the charm). |

F@#k this trash c@#t s!%t! I'm uninstalling this garbage and waiting for the real demo to come out (i.e., one that works). Ubi Soft are a bunch of morons for releasing a f@#ked up 'it-does-not-represent-the-final-product' piece of s@#t!!

I just thought I should point out that the demo was leaked. I wasn't an official release. Supposedly the official demo will be coming out soon though.
BTW, Amishler, I love your new avatar. |

It's too bad that a lot of people's first experience with the game is going to be such a negative one, and one that the developers didn't intend. Kind of makes me glad I can't run it on my PC. I hope the official demo, and, for that matter, the game itself, sit better with gamers.
Thanks, Moos! I thought you might like it.

I've noticed a trend with many recent demo's -- if your video card is 2 years old they won't work.
