A trailer will be released next Wednesday!

kuze 10-25-2011 09:25 AM

So glad they spelled out that strange "V" symbol.

SamandMax 10-25-2011 10:06 AM

I can't even imagine how you could top GTA 4 or Red Dead Redemption but if anyone can do it, it's Rockstar. My only hope is that they don't back away from the darker and more serious themes that their games have begun to hint at, they've come too far in the past few years to devolve back into a cartoonish over-the-top parody.

Looks great. Just bought the whole pack on Steam on last weekend's sale.

So that V in no way makes you think of this? Should of been obvious.

It's still kinda ridiculous.

I'm glad they're continuing the franchise, but I would have been even more happy if it wasn't GTA. Red Dead Redemption II (2)!

Just be thankful they didn't opt for GRAND TH5FT A5TO or something ridiculous.

On a more on-topic note, I might get this -- seeing as I've never played any of the GTAs, but have always been kind of interested and as someone who likes a sandbox to be a complete fool in.

Not ridiculous at all since it hints at what the game would be about. There are tons of people online now including Gamespot and IGN building theories about it.

If you think the logo is ridiculous, then discussing GTAV is ridiculous then.

I feel like you missed my (granted, totally minor) point. I see what they're going for. I don't see any Roman numbers on the dollar bill though, so I feel like there must be a more elegant solution to get their point across instead of slapping the word "five" on a Roman five.

Now I feel like a pedant for dragging this conversation out. Back to the topic.

Elegance is never a factor in teaser images, especially when you are suppose to get critical clues on the premise of the game across.

So without further adieu, learn to think.

You must have thought very long and hard before coming up with that discovery, which you read on kotaku.

Hah!

Should be alright but I actually prefer the Red Dead series or Bully over GTA.

DustyShinigami 10-26-2011 04:26 AM

A rumor has circulated on Kotaku that the game will be set in L.A. and will feature more than one playable character!

Not sure how I feel about the L.A. setting, what with L.A. Noire earlier this year, Rockstar's Midnight Club, and San Andreas' Los Santos... If the L.A. setting will be San Andreas again, then I'm fine with that. If it's the real L.A. then I'm not sure... The GTA games have always been set in their fictional cities - Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas.

Having more than one playable character seems like a good idea, though.

For shame! You've missed out on some great, entertaining games! You should definitely get them off Steam or something. GTA III and Vice City are only £5.99 each and San Andreas is £9.99 (though strange how the original two are £19.99!). Also, GTA III has just had its 10th Anniversary... It's an ideal time to get them and you'll have hours and hours of fun! :)

Hah!

Actually I thought of it before Kotaku even posted the articles. They actually got an image to prove it.

There seems to be a riff between the GTA fans. There's one camp who wants the series to stop taking itself too seriously and there's the other camp that LOVES the direction Rockstar is going with the Greek tragedy.

I'm really on the fence with what I want to see in GTAV. However, part of me hopes the V is for Vice City.

Agreed! Though I'd love to see a game just set in San Fierro or Los Santos.....though i'd die happy if they dedicated a game/dlc/spinoff that takes place somewhere not in america.

Wasn't there a GTA London for the first game?

Yeah, I've heard that. I've only played the 4th game at the moment, but I liked how serious it was with a bit of sarcasm thrown in. I've heard people that didn't like that it was taking itself seriously now, but I like it.

Fun Fact:

Rockstar North, makers of the GTA games, are right here in Edinburgh.
