I'm crossing my fingers they do Vice City again. Vice City will always be my favourite GTA game, with the lush Floridian backdrop and killer 80s soundtrack.

Here we go!

At first I thought it was Vice City, but it looks like we're heading back to San Andreas! Either way, I'm still chuffed. And the visuals look just as nice as those of IV, but y'know, improved.

I hope it's not CJ and his gangsta BS again (lots of cameos for sure), but I definitely want to be able to fatten up my character like a pig just like the good ol PS2 days.

There are two things I love about this trailer:

1. The use of The Small Faces to soundtrack it, which is genius.

2. How understated it is. It hints at the themes of the game simply through its use of imagery, like shots of the wealthy golfing and looking out over skyscraper-filled skylines juxtaposed with a 'For Sale' sign being hammered into a lawn and a homeless shantytown. It seems like this game is going to be at least partially dealing with the financial crisis and there couldn't be a more appropriate time for that.

I shouldn't think so. All the old characters are, apparently, dead from the classic GTA time-line. By the sound of the character narrating (the protagonist?), he sounds nothing like a gangsta.

I agree about the RPG elements though - I hope they bring them back.

I thought it sounding like Ray Liotta (Tommy from Vice City), but his people deny that his is in the game.

Also did you notice that the 3 guys robbing the bank are seen separately in the rest of the video.

Does this suggest you play as all three of them in an intermingling storyline.

I imagine a late-middle age white guy.

Also, this game looks GREAT! I loved San Andreas. You may disagree with the characters used, but the game offered an alternate lifestyle and character which offered a great story from beginning to end. Gangster? So? Why should that affect anything?

I would be a happy man if I'm playing a middle aged Tommy Vercetti in San Andreas. Even though I consider Red Dead Redemption as Rockstar's best work to date, during the early 00s I thought Vice City was the greatest video game of ALL TIME. So, any attempt to revisit that story and its crazy characters is welcomed.

Great looking trailer otherwise - I can't wait to drive around (and off) that mountain in HD.

Yeah sure, I mean, we're definitely lacking in movies\games\tvshows about street gangsters this year.
Let's go for it!

Btw whats so great about Tommy? Wasn't he just a cheap knock-off of Tony Montana?

Okay, not quite San Andreas, just Los Santos according to this. Slightly disappointing considering the original San Andreas was huge thanks to Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas. Unless of course Rockstar make Los Santos about the same size as the original San Andreas - the equivalent of all 3 of those counties combined - then... Hell, so long as it's bigger than GTA IV's map...

Sarcasm right? Because the way they told the story is nothing like a generic gangster film. Hey lets talk about how lacking GTAIV's story is. Common an Immigrant coming to another country to find nothing but shit?

Seriously, your argument is so blind.

k, let's see here:
His momma was killed by a rival gang and some po-pos framed him for a crime he didn't commit. Upon returning to his neighbourhood he had to reearn the "respect" of his fellow gangsters. Then there's the whole story about ghostwriting and stolen lyrics, there's the Easy-e's lame tribute, there's... your getting the point, right?

And GTA4? That's like me saying "Rocky2 has a sucky story" and you then reply "So you're saying Rocky4 BS story is better then?!", wth is wrong with you.

hahahahaha great example of someone telling a story just to make it seem like the story sucks. haha good job man, good job. Lets do the same for GTA4!!! Come on, lets take keypoints from that story and call it a day.

That sounds nothing like how I'm talking. I'm just pointing out how San Andreas gangster story is pretty great. Yet it seems like you have heard this story before in another game? Where? Oh wait, because you don't understand why people make games or games with a story. I never said GTAIV's game was lacking, it was sarcasm to prove the exact point in which you have so kindly provided in your reply.

aaaaactually I just read the main plot from wiki till Angel Pine since it takes hours to get there and, you know, I wanted to see if I missed something from your great gangster story:

Quote:
Carl "CJ" Johnson has been living in Liberty City for the past five years, ever since his brother Brian was killed. In 1992, for the first time in five years, he returns to Los Santos to attend his mother's funeral who was killed by rivals. Upon returning, his cab is pulled over by police officers Frank Tenpenny and Eddie Pulaski, who had several run-ins with Carl before he left. The officers put Carl in the squad car, frame him for a fellow officer's murder, and drop him off in a rival gang's area of town. Once Carl finds his way back to his house, he finds his family and friends in disarray.

Carl's brother, Sean "Sweet" Johnson blames him for their brother Brian's—and their mother's—deaths and berates him for abandoning the gang, the Grove Street Families. In an effort to win back his brother's favor and respect, Carl aids Sweet, and fellow gang members Ryder and Big Smoke. Carl is also introduced to Caesar, Kendl's boyfriend. Carl helps Sweet gain territory for the gang, aids Ryder in stealing weapons from various sources from an old vietnam veteran to a national guard depo, and helps Smoke perform various activities that usually have no benefit to the gang like taking out non native gangs, such as the San Fierro Rifa and the Russian Mob. Carl dates a girl named Denise (whom he rescued from a building after setting it on fire on Tenpenny's orders) and helps OG Loc to manage his rapping career, along with sabotaging Madd Dogg's career (including drowning his manager and stealing his rhyme book).

Thanks largely to Carl, the Grove Street Families return to prominence, and Carl regains his respect with Sweet. While Sweet is preparing for a gang war against their rivals, the Ballas, CJ gets a call from Caesar, to meet him. Caesar shows him the Green Sabre (the vehicle alleged to have carried out the shooting of his mother) being escorted by Big Smoke, Ryder and Tenpenny. This proves the three were involved in CJ's mother's death and that Sweet's plan is doomed. Carl tries to warn Sweet but cannot reach him by phone; in desperation, he tries to rescue him. He withstands the Ballas long enough for SWAT and C.R.A.S.H. to arrive on the scene. Sweet is arrested and Tenpenny takes Carl away with him to Angel Pine - a small village, isolated between Los Santos and San Fierro.
Now, have I seen this wonderful story in another medium? Well let me think about it cause the answer is really really difficult. Oops! I said "medium"! Stupid me for thinking that games don't need to have checklist stories from average movies and books to be the unique art form it is.

Look at my avy.
