Kinda makes me wanna read Journey to the Center of the Earth again. :)

Absolutely stunning rpg experience maybe the all times best.

Giles Habibula 11-14-2011 02:14 PM

I agree. Installed it last night. My plan was simply to go in and set it up the way I want (graphics, controls, etc.), and then set it aside until next weekend.

Instead, I was up far too late, and look to be up late again tonight.

Thing is, I'm not really even playing it as intended. I'm just going around exploring and sightseeing.

TiAgUh 11-14-2011 02:23 PM

Will look even better filled with waste and mutants...:P

Rolandesch 11-14-2011 11:33 PM

Yeah I'm playing it too and its great but I keep thinking, my God the next Fallout game is going to be LEGENDARY :)
Thank you Skyrim!

Oscar 11-15-2011 12:08 AM

It's my first TES game. It's pretty good fun so far, I like it!

UPtimist 11-15-2011 05:07 AM

I'm really excited to play it, but for once I know my limits and I know that if I get it now, I'll spend up using all the time I was supposed to be studying and such... So, (unfortunately,) I'm having to wait until I don't have quite so much going on, maybe until December, and even then I should read to an exam early January...

But, I guess I'll wait till December, at least I have only a few lectures then :P

Good thing everyone's liking it though, sounds like they've really improved since Oblivion!

Mostly anyways. The interface is even worse than it was in Oblivion but interfaces were always a weakness of Bethesda games. It's too consolized... but still, nothing beats the atmosphere.

As long as I'm still able to collect skulls and decorate my homes with them like I do with all of their games, I'm still happy.

It's my new favorite game of all times. Oblivion is now 2nd :)

Fantasysci5 11-15-2011 09:15 AM

The dragon part
Spoiler:
near the beginning
is really cool, but I never did like the Oblivion games much. Still, I love dragons. :P

Monolith 11-15-2011 09:49 AM

I honestly love the interface....well I am playing on the 360. I'm renting it until I can afford to build a new pc. The UI just works so perfectly. It doesn't work to fast to make it feel like an action game, but it doesn't work to slow to feel like a very slow RPG. It just works, especially with the focus on showing the object's 3d model, allowing you to look at it, and analyse it especially for puzzles.

The puzzles at times feel like a mix of LA Noire and a decent adventure game. Its awesome. Did anyone else think of how awesome the game was once going through the Golden Claw quest? Seriously, thats such an improvement over oblivion and morrowind.

Also, the game FEELS like Morrowind. Not graphics, not story wise, but the atmosphere, some of the history of the world, and not to forget the Dwemer. :D

Yeah, it took me a bit to get used to the interface because it's so sleek and modern compared to the usual UI you see in a fantasy RPG like this but it really is fantastic. They've managed to streamline it to a point where anything you'll ever have to do can be done without even a hint of confusion.

That's the thing that surprised me most about this game, how simple and accessible it is without sacrificing any complexity to do it. They've managed to make a massive hardcore RPG that anyone can pick up and play.

Gabe 11-15-2011 11:14 AM

First I want to provide a parody video of Oblivion/Skryim

Then I want to provide a trailer for one of the most amazing Oblivion mods that I wish was coming to Skyrim.

Hardcore RPG? Hm, no. Temple of Elemental Evil was a hardcore RPG. This is more of an action game. It's a great game don't get me wrong, but there's not much separating it from Tomb Raider except being able to choose a bonus skill every few hours.

TiAgUh 11-15-2011 04:11 PM

Love the pics Gabe but by god pls resize them the next time man

This is such a perfect game for online co-op it hurts. My gf would eat this up with me, with her newfound interest in fantasy-rpgs and all, but alas I'll have to trample some trolls while riding those mamoths all alone. :\

I disagree. This game is everything an RPG is. Quests, Conversation system, crafting, alchemy, character skills and stats, etc. Temple is exactly this game minus the ability to control multiple characters.

What isn't a hardcore rpg? pretty much anything that isn't a western rpg.
