I liked that article. It gave me a few little worries, but I suspect it will still be a great advancement in gaming AI, and I rather look forward to getting my hands on the game some day.

Oh my, seems they finally are able to also create attractive people with their character editor, instead of those frog-human / badger-human hybrids etc. Here's hoping though that they don't go overboard and just make everyone a model now. The preset thing might be good, might be too simple. We'll see (worked OK in Mass Effect).
I like that you can make your character what you want, but I'm a little worried that it's now so detailed that you in the end can't actually make your character without playing for like 100 hours. I just don't have that much time... Also, so that you can have a little versatility in your abilities without having to either be mediocre in everything or just completely committing to one area. Like, being good in Magic stuff but then there being so many different options you want/need that you'll end up beating a rumare slaughterfish for a couple of minutes before it dies (happened to me in Oblivion). (Edit): Spent quite a while reading through a bunch of other articles I've not noticed at least, linked at the bottom of that forum post you took this from. All sorts of interesting things. Last edited by UPtimist; 02-12-2011 at 01:45 AM. |

My theory on Betesha games is that they always lack something to make me quite want to play them longer than 1 hour, BUT for each game they release they tend to be a very steady 10% improvement (not counting the updated graphics),
So my theory is one of these days I'm going to really like a Betesha game might be this one or might be 5 sequels from now I'm annoyed that they are making yet another engine from scratch, I hate it when they do that as it means that when the engine finally is done they have to hurry to make a real game out of it before the deadline is extended too far, I wish they would just get Unreal Engine 3 and focus their effort on the art of the game instead of re-inventing the wheel for 4 years, but I guess it's all about business that they don't want to have to pay the royalties percentage to Epic, too bad. |

Apparently even the console versions are designed to be compatible with mods. They're hoping that at some point, even though it apparently won't be happening at release, they could get mods released for consoles also. 90 % of the players are on the consoles but they don't have a channel to get all the mods...

Exactly why I called you out on your post? Get it? Also noticed how I never mentioned graphics.

I think there's a misunderstanding here. "looks" usually refers to visual impression but can also mean appearance in a wider sense than just visual. a collective impression based on what we've seen and heard about something
the english language was, I'm certain, designed to confuse

nah, he's just a dick. And I felt like being a dick too. What I meant to say either way, was that Oblivion was pretty lame and that Skyrim, from the LOOKS of it, well may be the sequel that Morrowind deserves.

Well, there's been a bunch of tidbits and stuff that I haven't bothered posting, but I thought that this was big enough.
A gameplay video (and interview) from E3: http://youtu.be/W2CzsJ4K_qo Here's another, with much of the same content but a few differences also: http://youtu.be/ic6dKnv3WdU Also in that one you can see that they decided to implement horses after all. Last edited by UPtimist; 06-10-2011 at 12:21 AM. |
