The Witcher 2 on GOG?
Do my eyes deceive me?
http://www.gog.com/en/page/tw2_preorder/ Brand new game, DRM free, bonus stuff & another game free? GOG really are full of surprises. Edit: I probably should have pointed out that this is a preorder, as the game itself isn't out yet. Last edited by Intense Degree; 11-19-2010 at 07:21 AM. |

This is a great offer, it really is. I'm happy they have the balls to go DRM-free with The Witcher 2, a big triple-A title.

They've had recent games on for some time, now. King's Bounty, Two Worlds, Fantasy Wars - They're far from "old".

Well, technically they didn't exactly team up, since GOG belongs to CD Projekt, the publisher of the Witcher games. Also, The Witcher isn't exactly indie, it's a big budget project with a big team of game developers behind it.

As an Australian, that $44.99 is ridiculously cheap. Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 still cost $80-100 here, and as much as I like having a hard copy, DRM free means I can burn it to a disc to keep forever. Friggin' awesome.

indie RPGs
I'm excited to support some indie RPGs. While Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and Fallout were great... they're only leading to more sequels of the same old yet for the same initial price.
What does the lack of DRM mean for this game? Is the DVD going to be copyable? |

Might & Magic had 10 iterations (I think. I know there were 9 numbered games but I'm sure there was a 10th - World of Xeen or something), the Heroes spinoff has its 6th coming out soon. Ultima was on 9, King's Quest on 8 (I think? Or was it 6?). I don't get why it's bad form for "modern" games to have sequels that are similar to the previous games, but with older games it's fine. And then when a game comes along and mixes things up (Dawn of War 2 to Dawn of War 1, Far Cry 2 to Far Cry 1 etc) it's said to be not a true sequel or some variation because they went and mixed things up!

The GOG digital release has no DRM on it, but CD Project claim to have purchased the services of torrent sniffer companies and legal teams to track and fine online pirates (both peers and seeds). |

Now I love this game even more!
From what I've read this is the game I'm most hyped about this year... Interesting story, choices that matter, amazing art direction...count me in! |
