I an in communication with some of the master mod makers for this series so if you do really need to get by this bug, and can detail it i can ask...
yes re Free Ride posted earlier, in Mafia 1, Free Ride was quite detailed and actually allows you to compete for some of the very rare and beautiful cars (they sure designed a TON of amazing period models that MIGHT have been)....and also specify the location ie small town, small city, medium city, etc...that engine is amazingly versatile in that it can whip up a made to order city with all the trimmings in seconds....quite something. good luck with that bug

There are a number of reasons that the MAFIA series is remarkable.....
I dont particularly like the violence or the theme of glorifying the crime families that were brought to the US under the umbrella of protection of the US military in exchange for their assistance in the landings during WWII in italy and Sicily....but the games themselves are beautifully crafted and made, the game engine is a remarkable achievement that allows a huge and active world to be created ..with a lot of complexity and activity..truly a living world...the design and beauty of the world is very nicely done. It is a remarkable effort over a series of years by a fine development company...and so i am sorry that i don't feel to dismiss it so off handedly is worthy of their content..they are indeed remarkable and excellent titles with a lot of merit on many levels...story, setting and scenes, and the overall feel of a past era, well several eras, the 1930s and then the 1950s in a major city that is really New York..but kept somewhat anonymous.
