I guess I'm one of those people who wants to like it more than they actually do...

I love the premise, setting and characters, but there's far too much completely illogical "adventure game dream logic".

Didn't stop me finishing the first one, and there were great moments, but I'd never recommend it to anyone else, especially not as an introduction to adventure-style games.

Double-posting, but anyway...

It's kinda funny how often Thief: The Dark Project has been mentioned in this thread. For a game no-one played, an awful lot of people seem to have played it.

(To say nothing of the extensive and active fan and modding community still devoted to it and the first sequel, or the fact that it's been re-released multiple times as a popular budget title, many years after its original release.)
