Newer more quieter consoles?

I just read that the Sony Playstation 3 is coming as a 45nm Cell version, being cooler, more quiet and maybe even cheaper. Now I'm probably going to get a PS3 by the end of this year, but my current main console is the XBOX 360. I currently have the Halo edition with its 90 nm CPU and noisy DVD-drive.

Can anyone confirm if the newer 65 nm version with the BenQ-drive is cooler and more quiet than the old versions? If so, is it worth the upgrade? In my case it's either buy a new console (and sell the old one) or buy some head phones so that I won't hear the constant console humming.

BenQ drives are supposed to be quieter and as far as Falcons are concerned, check this thread.

Note that you can still get a Falcon with a non-BenQ drive. Or maybe not. I'm not sure, actually. :)

Interesting read. I wish there was some official quiet X360 coming. I'd swap it in a jiffy. I should be able to sell off my Halo version without problem still. I hope.

There just sold off my X360 for an astonishing 3210 SEK (It's equal to approximately $450). I still haven't found any real evidence of a quiet X360 so I'm going to skip it entirely for the time being and focus on my Wii/Gamecube and PS2 games as I still have the following to finish before I'm done with that generation. :P

Odin Sphere
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3
The Thing
Devil May Cry 3
God of War 2
Resident Evil Zero
Resident Evil Code Veronica X

Ah life's GOOD :D
