Default Good NES games for 2 Players

Like the title says, im interested in good 2-player games on NES.
I have all of them, I can say. Playing on PSX.
We like Dr.Mario (lol), Snake&Rattle(Snake Rattle 'n' Roll), Balloon Fight, Contra (not often) etc.

Games we can play at the same time.
Should be fun to play together.

Basewars is great. Might be even better for 3 players though.

Double Dragon 3, if you want to play a beat em up. You can tweak the difficulty level with game genie codes if you find it too hard, though it really isn't.

There's a version of archon. the feel of the battles is a bit different, but the basic formula is similar.

If you're looking for a 2 player simultaneous platformer, there's also chip and dale.

There's the tengen version of tetris which has not only a 2 player versus mode, but also co-op.

River City Ransom was always a blast. Gauntlet 2 was done pretty well on the NES too.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Arcade Game by now. It was definitely an awesome 2 player NES game. Bomberman is also a good choice, although it is versus, and not coop like Turtles.

Snake Rattle'n'Roll gets insanely harder by each level until it makes you want to smash your head through the wall. I absolutely like that game though.

Nintendo World Cup. Even if you aren't into football at all. Perhaps even moreso then.

Mario Bros. is an obvious one. It's both competitive and co-operative at the same time. On the one hand you're going to want to clear levels, but on the other hand you want to get more points than the other player, so it can be tempting to flip a Koopa shell just as your opponent tries to kick it out.

Chip and Dales Rescue Rangers was one of my favorite 2 player NES games growing up. It's co-op too! I remember having so much fun playing this with my brother. We grew up playing NES together. We also liked Snake Rattle and Roll.

North & South

Extremely underrated action / strategy hybrid where each player controls either the Union or the Confederate army in the civil war. Lots of fun for 2 players.

Nobody said Bubble Bobble yet? Super Mario Bros 3 is also great for 2 players.

And while I've gotten used to the concept of emulators, the idea of playing NES games on a Playstation or X-Box still seems sacrilegious to me
