Silent Hill 1 PC (con)Version

Well, well, here is something i came across today. It seems some group that goes by the name Silentscape Studios made a PC conversion of first Silent Hill. This is definitely good news for PC gamers who liked SH2 in SH3, but never had the chance to play the first one, because it was PS1 exclusive title.

You can download it from their page. It is available in bittorrent format. Just FYI, i haven't downloaded it (yet), so i can't give you any details about it, or any kind of guarantee that this is real thing or not.

And note to moderators, since i am well aware that this could be regarded as piracy, i'm asking you to remove the link from my post, if you find it against the rules of this forum

They call it their 'product'? The nerve... :shifty:

So, when is KONAMI bringing SH1 over to PC as an unlockable in a future PC SH game?

Intrepid Homoludens 02-13-2004 08:38 PM

 EEK! That's great that you can now play the original masterpiece on PC, but I'd personally rather experience it (or in this case, re-experience it) on a low res t.v. screen. The pixels are huge, and I'd probably be distracted by them on a PC screen. BTW, would there be a way to 'soften' the look of the game's graphics for PC?

A PS One costs only 50 dollars (and less if you buy one used), and you can pick up a used copy of Silent Hill 1 for less than ten bucks. I really don't see why not having the system would stop you from playing the game, as the console and game would run about the same price as, say, Silent Hill 3.

No one really knows :D The game is poorly seeded, but the good news is, that i'm on 93%. So as soon as i get it, i'll post info about it right here.

Me too. 93.7% I haven't played any of the Silent Hill games so yet.

yes, yes 93.7% :D, progress is slow, but steady... we'll get there eventually :)

I just hope this is for real, and conversion is at least decent, if not good.

What is this? I get PaysForSurveys.com site when i click the link...

VoodooFX 02-14-2004 07:07 AM

which link is that? the page still opens as usual for me, so does the link for download.

Nellie 02-14-2004 10:32 AM

I get PaysForSurveys.com too.

(Incidentally, searching for Silentscape Studios on Google gives you a Googlewhack).

Erkki 02-14-2004 10:56 AM

The link works for me. Strange.

Intrepid Homoludens 02-14-2004 11:00 AM

It works for me, too.

Igor 02-14-2004 11:37 AM

It's really weird: the address line in IE still shows http://www.silentscape.tk/, however the loaded page is PaysForSurveys.com...

Wonder if this is better then playing Silent Hill 1 PSX on the Epsxe emulator?

That let's you play high res(up to 1600x1200) and with filtered textures.

Erkki 02-15-2004 03:28 PM

Hehe. 99.8%
It has downloaded 0.1% during the whole day. And my upload rate is about 3 times more than download. Is this normal with Bittorrent or is it just that this file is unpopular? (I added the 10 ports to WinXP's firewall, so that shouldn't be the problem?)

DJC 02-15-2004 04:03 PM

Has anyone at all finished the Silent Hill download? I've got to 99% and am now getting zero download. The website (for me at least) seems to have disapeared (or turned into PaysForSurveys.com). Also noticed that the download was on ******** and has now disapeared. Inside the RAR is an image file though. Think I looking too far into this!!!!!!!

Intrepid Homoludens 02-15-2004 04:06 PM

http://mindscraps.com/s/contrib/Bizkit/peoples.gif I think Silentscape Studios have some explaining to do.

Leonardi 02-15-2004 04:18 PM

I downloaded it and now I am seeding the complete version. I didn't install it yet though, the installer shows up with "KONAMI" and "Silent Scape Studios" logos... LOL

DJC 02-15-2004 04:22 PM

I finshed the download. From the readme file:
"ePSXe is the main "engine" for the game. However, we have tweaked it to fully support Silent Hill and provide the best game experience possible".
Hope this helps
