Yeah, I'd buy it instantly.
I think Ubisoft has done AN AMAZING job at porting the game.

The UK Ubisoft version is out and it's pretty much the same as the old version. Same graphics, just added languages and a change in the name (Bio Hazard 4 = Resident Evil 4). However, rumour has it that Capcom are working on a patch that will improve the graphics significally. This is, however, something I cannot confirm.

There was a forum thread on the official capcom board which confirmed a patch. (didn't say when though)

What a difference a patch makes, twenty-four little megabytes (actually, it's 70, but you get the drift).

It's always fascinating how even models, textures and everything look to be of higher quality if presented in the proper, dare I say... light.

I'd rather buy the new Wii version when it comes out.

I'm glad to see that they've finally made a patch to fix up the game a little, but I'm not really in the mood to play through this game once more - I've already played through it twice - just to hunt down the areas they have improved. I've re-played the beginning, and there I didn't really see much of a major improvement. At least the movies aren't fixed up... and the light at the beginning of the game still looks unnaturally bright. Also, this patch is quite big... and it took like forever just to patch the files, and that's with my dualcore 2.6 ghz(estimated around 5 and a half gigahertz with 2MB cache) cpu and 4 gig of ram. I can't even imagine how long it would've taken on a slower PC.

Anyway, I think I'll let this game rest on my shelf. I still think Resident Evil 2 (and then 3, but the second is absolutely the best - The first one ain't so bad either, just was a bit too old when I first played it) is the best game in the series, and will be the one I pull out when I want to replay a RE game.

Currently playing this one on my PC.

Yes, it's very good -- just make sure you have a gamepad...
...Since the lack of mouselook for the KB/mouse controls suck.
