Default A slight dig at AG?

Has anyone seen JustAdventure+ lately? They have a "non"-hype-o-meter up. Is that supposed to be a sarcastic dig at AG's Hype-o-meter? I mean, they even describe their meter as "No Hype, Just Fact"...is their a civil war here I never knew about? lol

There's outright hostility. It is common knowledge that Randy Sluganski actually bit Marek's ear off in an open confrontation at an E3 few years back. Nasty thing.

Spoiler:
That is why Marek is deaf in one ear.

Non-hype-o-meter? Even as a joke, that sounds freaking retarded. How 'bout a fact-o-meter, oh ye of little creativity...

Justadventure doesn't understand litigation. It's better to just run away.

Well, they say that a) imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But then again, plagiarism can be b) the sincerest form of insult, as it can suggest an attitude of, "your thought and idea are meaningless and can be taken and made my own."

I say we assume it's A rather than B.

If it doesn't have Sam & Max or Phoenix Wright on it, it can't be in the least bit credible.

I'd like to add to that the following options:

c) failed attemp at humor.
d) proof of unoriginal thought.
e) all of the above

Out of which I'm pretty sure it's e).

(multiple choice quiz-taking 101: when there's an "all of the above" option, that's the right one )

P.S. a & b can be correct at the same time, in case anyone's wondering: AGs should feel flattered by JA's maniacal preoccupation with it, even if JA meant this as an insult.

Oh man, that's hilarious!

In a totally unintentional way, of course.

I don't know. I get the impression that it is a dig at themselves shamelessly and blatantly ripping off a competitors concept and wording.

I guess having the HoM 'parodied' only helps to acknowledge it even more.

By the way, there's going to be a minor layout update to the HoM soon (maybe today if I can find time). I did most of the work on it last Sunday, so it's in no way some kind of response to JA+. I thought it would be prudent to point that out.

Is it true that someone offered Marek a drink the other day and he said "It's OK. I've got one ear!"

I must admit I don't get on to the main site much but the "Hype" part of Hype-O-Meter makes it purpose pretty obvious. The question is, does appearing on the Hype-O-Meter increase the Hype about a game? Do games climb to the top just by being brought to people's notice?

I like the new layout, speaking of which, damn is JA+'s poor... it took me a couple of minutes just to find this "fact-o-meter" of their's.

The honourable mentions part is neat.

When Al Emmo is released, does one of the honourable mentions get bumped up into the H-o-M?

The retouched H-o-M looks even more classy than before, but I'm surprised that Overclocked didn't make it to the Honorable Mentions.

Marek

I'll be updating those honourable mentions shortly. I think those names were only there for test purposes.

EDIT:

I don't think there's that direct a correlation. But it certainly keeps those games in the limelight, and hopefully maintaining people's interest. What I can tell you is that most if not all of the developers and publishers I talk to do follow the H-o-M with interest.

BTW, why is it that the release dates in the H-o-M are still not the same as those (generally more precise) in the games database?

Sometimes I just forget to update both. But release dates are so nebulous that I'd rather just leave a more general date on the front page.
