Your Favorite Type of Racing Game

Here you go! Another thread without much point.

Melanie68 08-08-2006 08:33 PM

I've never played a racing game. :P

Squinky 08-08-2006 08:34 PM

Mario Kart all the way!

I kind of lied. They had a demo DS with this on it and I played it a bit and was quite bad at it. :D I'm sure I would have gotten better but it was fun.

I like your new avatar Squinky. I'm going to show my ignorance and ask who she is.

lumi 08-08-2006 08:57 PM

It's too hard to choose.

Spiwak 08-08-2006 09:04 PM

I went for other just because of Mario Kart.

It's Neil Gaiman's anthropomorphic personification of Death, from the Sandman comics.

Melanie68 08-08-2006 09:10 PM

Doh! I've read Preludes and Nocturnes but didn't make the connection. It's the first graphic novel I'd ever read and I didn't know what to expect but I had read some of his other books and gave it a try. It was fantastic.

Sorry Sak for the off topic. :)

Edit: Thanks for the links though.

Squinky 08-08-2006 09:46 PM

Yeah, it's a bit of a different picture of Death from how she's drawn normally (then again, Sandman has different illustrators throughout), so I guess it's harder to recognize her.

Sorry for going off-topic again. :)

Burnout. Best racing game ever.

insane_cobra 08-08-2006 10:51 PM

Arcade racing with weapons and power-ups. I'm not sure if I should vote for Super Arcade Racers or Other.

SakSquash 08-08-2006 11:21 PM

Other. With Super Arcade racers, I had racing games without powerups in mind.

Grey 08-08-2006 11:36 PM

Mostly, I like the arcade racers. My favorites:

RC Cars
Mad Tracks
Mario Kart 64
Mickey's Speedway USA

Kolzig 08-08-2006 11:59 PM

I voted other because I like Mario Kart and F-Zero type of fun racing games, but I also love realistic racing simulator games like Live For Speed.

I know what I don't like and that's the very arcade type of street racing games. I once played some of these new NFS games and almost puked.

I like semi-realisitic games like Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed. It isn't to easy and you still have to use your brakes, but i don't like them Uber-realistic like GTR.

simpson_yellow 08-09-2006 01:39 AM

I voted Other for Trackmania Sunrise and Trackmania Nations - consumed far more of my gaming hours than any other game I've ever played.

Powerslide was another kickass racer, which also doesn't really fit into any of the categories.

And Need for Speed Most Wanted was a decent bit of fun (the police pursuits moreso than the racing).

kuze 08-09-2006 01:54 AM

Trackmania, Trackmania Sunrise, Trackmania Nations (just started playing it a few days ago).

CrimsonBlue 08-09-2006 02:02 AM

I actually like most kinds. Sometimes arcade, like Burnout and Need For Speed (up until Hot Pursuit 2), sometimes sims like Gran Turismo and Forza, sometimes a decent mix, like Porsche Unleashed (NFS).

Stiltzkin 08-09-2006 05:10 AM

Mario Kart, F-Zero or Need for Speed (Non-Underground). Never seem to bother with any of the other driving games now-a-days. Rock 'N Roll Racing was kinda fun though.

They're the only "racing" games (Mario Kart excluded) that I find extremely fun :).

And Big Rigs, of course. So it had to be "Other" :).
