Wow. Just........wow. The crowd and social stealth mechanics are simply awesome. The combat, once you learn how it works, is smooth and fluid.

The chase scenes, when you're caught and start running, are sheer white knuckle moments and you're scrambling looking for the nearest haystack or rooftop cover and you cannot bump into anyone because the impact will knock you down but you're scouting for the closest cluster of vigilantes that will distract the guards running after you or the closest group of scholars to hide you and you can't find them so you climb up a ladder and you need to be very precise in your jumps or you'll miss that split second moment of escape.

*whew*

3 Down 6 to go.

Although I am taking it kinda slow. Doing all the missions in each of the areas. Climbing all the viewpoints etc.

The only thing i'm missing is all the flags. I pick up ones I see but I'm not actively looking for them.

Still enjoying the freedom to climb and roam.

With the counter attack move the combat is now extremely easy and have taken out about 20 guards at the one time (well they come at you one at at time, but you get the idea)

To all you people complaining that when you're surrounded by half a dozen guards yet they all do not attack you at the same time, try playing the game as is. Just try it, without getting killed or at the very least without destroying your synchronization bar to a single line.

Now, imagine if you would survive at all if they all did attack you at the same time.

Yeah, I agree with you there Trep, especially in the latter memory blocks. The more skilled guards' attacks are brutal.

Also, I have a warning regarding memory block 6 that I played through last night. Suffered a major glitch that caused me to fall through the map, the AI to not work, and for two Altairs to be on screen at one time after death. This happens after you've gone through the kingdom to another place. The solution seems to be to make sure you only have a single controller connected to the first slot of your 360. At least, that solved it for others, and for me.

I haven't tried this, but is it possible to go back to the different cities to complete everything, even if you didn't the last time? At least getting viewpoints and saving the citizens?

Yes, you can. Even after finishing the main storyline.

I have an urge to play this game, just because I like the 30 second advert they've been running over here recently.

Assassins Creed is amazing! I'm on memory block 2 at the moment.

I tried that, but I couldn't find a handhold beyond the third floor of the cathedral. Where did you climb up?

I climbed up one side until I got to the sloped roof behind the arched pillars that run along each side. Then climb up the outside of the pillars. Jump up the inside of the pillars and shimmy round to the front where there is handholds to climb up.

But isn't that missing the point? If the game sets out to create a realistic environment then it should be realistic at all levels (subject to exceptional abilities displayed by the PC) and doing anything else is always going to blow the suspension of disbelief. If, in real life, you get surrounded by skilled fighters then they will kill you. The Hitman series taught me that much. (over and over again )

If the designers have sections where such mass fights are completely unavoidable then that's a poor design decision. They should have made it possible to only get into this situation by messing up (rushing in instead of waiting for a good opportunity, creating too much noise or whatever) This encourages players to use stealth and creative use of scenery (both features that have been well implemented by the sound of it) to avoid getting caught like this. I would have thought that would make for much more satisfying gameplay than a fudge many people seem to be finding too obvious.

Congrats! I actually had to shelve it for the time being when Mass Effect was released. I'll get back to it in due time. But yeah, so far I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars. Beautiful yet imperfect game. Definitely a serious milestone in gamedom.

I'm very disappointed with this game. It is a Grand Theft Auto wannabe, with repetitive game play, and a very lame story. It doesn't help that they released a half finished game.
