DMC is also not a particularly good comparison point. DMC is more flashy, while NG is generally more punishing (but also more rewarding) and more about edge-of-the-seat fighting than showing off. I'm not sure there is a game Ninja Gaiden can be compared to at all, it seems to be in a class of its own.
It reminds me a lot of Onimusha for the weapons upgrades, orbs, switching between male and female, and it has a real Capcom feel to it in general puzzle-wise (if you could call them puzzles).

I also related it to Devil May Cry 2 for it being fast-paced and I don't have a good memory of the game, but for some reason I could see the acrobatic/jumping being quite similar to the chick's?

It's funny, one of my friends believes it to be a direct rip-off of 'Onimusha'. I wouldn't quite agree there but it does remind me of it.

Played:

Half-Life: The NON-Steam, NON-Source version with the high-def pack installed. This is the way to play the game. Currently in the underground rail-road system.

Currently playing End of Ages. I just started and am at the first age I chose to go to -- the telescope age (forgot the name).

Finished Murder on the Orient Express which I loved but I thought it was too short (only about 10 hours).

I'm playing Chrono Cross, with every intention to beat it this time. And I'm also playing The Warriors, on the second level. Fun violent game.

Finished Jade Empire, loved it, finished TR Legends and Anniversary a while ago, and am close to completing several others, but have been really busy with day job. JE is one great game.

Runaway.
Starting 4th chapter, but there are some tehnical problems and I'm trying to solve them.. It makes me pretty sad, because I can't play before everything is alright..

I'm even thinking about starting a new game, but I don't know which one yet..

Halo, split screen with a friend on my XBOX 360. After playing Gears of War I'm having a hard time adjusting to the 4:3 low resolution screen, but the game has its' merits and I can understand why it got all the praise it got when it first arrived. Today it's entertaining, but I wouldn't go through this if it wasn't because I want to play through Halo 1 & 2 before getting on with Halo 3.
By the way, I thought that playing Halo on the 360 would imply improved graphics (like 720p and the sort), is that just rumors or have I missed where to turn on the feature?

Also I'm at the end game of Okami, which is probably the best game I've played on the PS2. Fun, fresh and interesting all the way through.

Metal Gear Solid - Twin Snakes (GC)
Spoiler:
Just defeated the ninja and made contact with Otacon.

This game so far is just as good the second game, but playing the game through SCART on my Full-HD really shows its' age. Anyway, apart from the unintuitive controls this game is great! Waaaaaaay better than Splinter Cell which is the closest game franchise I can compare Metal Gear Solid to.

*edit*
Playing this is now realize that I should have played this game before Sons of Liberty. There were a lot of references there that I never understood and now I know why. I really should replay it before playing Snake Eater...

In my pursuit to buy and play as many of the adventure classics as possible, I'm now playing Zork Grand Inquisitor. I've just entered the Underground and so far this game has put a big smile on my face. Now if I only could get that spell inside the now invisible, purple umbrella flower.

I'm now 48 hours into Final Fantasy XII and the end is still nowhere in sight. I have to complete it before Still Life arrives on Tuesday though... maybe I'll phone in sick at work.

Playing:

Morrowind - PC - Was named Chieftan of Thirsk. This is a great game, huge, and I'll probably never play it again once I reach the end. I've been working on it for over a year now off and on again.

Resident Evil 0 - GC - Great graphics and story.
