Default Playstation 3 in November

It's official.

And they're planning on shipping 6 million units till the end of the year. 6 million in a month or so? That's a bit optimistic, even for Sony, don't you think?

Unless, of course, they're not talking about the calendar year or if by shipping they don't mean actually selling.

There's a preview of Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom up on IGN. Is it just me or does it look quite unimpressive?

By shipping, they never mean selling. That's why they say shipping.

I'm guessing around 3-4 million in Japan, 1,5-2 million in the US and the rest for us poor europeans.

I'm inclined to believe they're talking about the end of their fiscal year. To produce 6 million units by the end of December, they should start cranking them out now.

He said the goal was to ship 6 million PS3s worldwide by March 2007.

I'm surprised that Sony announced the delay without a good news to counter balance it.

That's supposed to be the good news, it's coming out this year after all, yaaaaay!

Also, seems like it'll come with a 60GB hard drive.

Now, about that price...

It's only a delay in JAP, not in the US or EU.

Europeans will be jumping up and down.. getting their console simultaneously is a + for them.
Hopefully this means a standard HD / lower pricetag for the rest of us. I'm willing to wait 8 months if it makes it a better system. Expectations will be slightly raised, however.

And Kutaragi claims it'll be in 4D!

They did announce an XBOX-LIVE like feature, which was the major selling point of their competitors.

The worldwide launch is kind of surprising, I wasn's expecting PS3 in Europe until 2007.
The online service is good news, although everybody was already talking about it.
The retro-compatiliby was confirmed (and thereĀ“s a rumour that it will have Nintendo-style downloadable PSone games).
Also there is the confirmation that all games will be blue-ray and it will have a 60Gb hard disk.
Its basically the confirmation of some rumours (except the worldwide lauch, that's new).

I'm curious whether this is just damage control after their shares plummeted or genuine information. I highly doubt they can make good on their promise though, as the Cell processor is not being mass-produced yet (latest we've heard it won't be ready for mass production till 2007) and the components are still too costly. And if they don't have it on the shelves by Christmas, they're going to lose their war with MS for sure. If they manage to do it however, I'll be one of their happy customers

Yeah that looks fairly disappointing, whoever decided it'd be smart to promote that as a launch title should be fired Now if they'd have Crysis as a launch title...

Yes, I wanted to say that it looks unimpressive, but I guess my English sentence construction could do a little work.

Actually, I think it looks like utter shit, but maybe other games will look better, that MGS4 demo was pretty neat.

I guess we'll only truly see PS3 & Xbox 360 games in a year or twos' time, same thing happened with the Xbox and PS2, they need to learn how to push every bit of power out of the machine.

Exactly. Look at the first PS2 games, and then look at them now. There's a huge difference.
