Play didn't notify me today about having mailed the game, which means I won't get it this week. They'll probably mail it Thursday, so I'll get it next Tuesday :/

I'm waiting till I upgrade, so autumn, maybe even winter.

But never mind, the expansions will be out by then, everything patched and mods aplenty. It'll be a mad Oblivion marathon.

I got a headache from playing for 5 hours straight. I'll post pictures of my character when ag.com isn't acting so wonky.

Still waiting for my copy, according to an email I got regarding the shipment it should arrive tomorrow

TempsieSassie, how's your xbox 360 performing (and do you have HDTV?)? On the gamespot live playthrough thingie they said the 360 version has far more loading to do than the PC version when you're out in nature scenes, isn't that annoying?

It's performing great! And yes, I do have an HDTV. There are hardly any loading screens out in the woods and when there are, they last .5 seconds. I'm having a great time with the game. I hear there is a problem with caching:

Official from Bethesda:

"Oblivion uses the Xbox 360 hard drive extensively to cache (copy and reuse) game data. This is done to optimize all loading the game does. It has been found in rare cases on some Xbox 360s that the cached data can get overly fragmented. This exhibits itself by the game taking a long time to load anything from menus, dialogue, sounds, objects, levels, and more.

To solve this problem, reset your Xbox, and hold down the A button as the game is booting up. If any button is held while Oblivion is loading, it will clear its hard drive cache, and create a new one. Once you see the “Bethesda Softworks” logo video, the game is already loaded, and the cache should have been cleared.

Note, this does not effect your game in any way other than loading. You will not lose any saved data."

Mine is working great though. Awesome graphics.

Great, it must be a looker on HDTVs If you feel like it, please post some memorably outtakes of your playthrough so far

The GS playthrough looked awesome, especially the game world and the day and night cycle; people actually went to sleep, got up in the morning and opened their shops and stuff, and thievery is almost impossible from what I saw, unless you wanted to lose all your stuff and go to jail ofcourse. Also the dialogue and facial animations looked amazing, the only thing that ever came close must've been Vampire: Bloodlines.

I'm following the story, but I'll try to get everything else in between.

Also collector's edition is worth it.

Hey anyone know of a website to read up a bit on the gameworld and various classes and such? I never played any TES game before plus this is my third RPG (counting KOTOR1&2 as two separate games)

I'm personally eager to hear how it is performance-wise, as Bethesda are notorious when it comes to not optimizing their games. I find that even Morrowind loaded onto a PC with a twin-SLI nVidia configuration can still witness slowdown (I've seen it first hand) and that game is old. I guess I'm worried that whilst the XBox version might perform alright (due to it being much easier to optimize), the PC version might not and thusly might end up like Morrowind. I can almost see some gamers having to have a fog right up to about two inches in front of them to even be able to play the game with a decent framerate.

These are just my fears however, based on past Bethesda efforts. I'm really interested in Oblivion, I could use a new RPG to play. I'm just ... definitely waiting for some PC reviews from intelligent folks. So fellows, once you've obtained your PC versions and played with them for a while, could you post back here with an average performance review and your specs? That might be a bit of a big favour to ask but it'll definitely give me an idea of whether the purchase is indeed worthwhile.

I just realized that all the classic TES websites I have bookmarked are no more.

Anyway, this list might be of some help.
