The PS3 version crashes sometimes (gametrailers' review said that).

I've had the 360 version crash once; I doubt the problems are isolated to one version.

Is it any good. I nearly bought it today, but have heard some bad things about it.
I heard you have to play each level twice and that there is absolutly no challenge as it's impossible to die. (Your side kick saves you every time) Also the voice of the prince annoys the sh*t out of me in the trailers (Wise ass git)

As far as the prince's voice actor, it is the same guy who did the voice in Uncharted Drake's Fortune. But you are right, whereas in Uncharted the writing was witty and clever, and Nathan Drake was very likable, here the prince passes off as a wise ass. Overall I am a little bit disappointed with this game, this coming from a big prince of persia fan. You need at least some sort of challenge in an action adventure game to get a sense of accomplishment, and Ubisoft are trying hard to court the Wii buying casual gamer at the expense of the more traditional gamers like us.

Are you sure about that? Enemies do regain some health if Elika has to save you. You're right about the game itself not being that challenging, but the trophy/achievement for completing the game without having Elika save you 100+ times is a challenge.

Well the way it works, when an enemy/boss is about to kill you, a button flashes on the screen that you have to press. You usually have ample time to press it. Press it properly and you are "saved" and the enemy regains no health. Miss-time the button press, and the enemy's health bar increases slightly. I never had a problem timing the button press, so I started intentionally mis-timing it to prolong the fights a little By the way where you ever able to pull that crazy 14 button combo trophy/achievement?

And no to the 14 button combo, having seen the combo now I'll try it again when I replay it.

Vampyre Story - Collector's Edition.
I'm just pi**ed the way how Amazon packs small items. Box got slightly squashed due to their cost effective packing. I'm really starting to hate Amazon. Should have bought this one from eBay instead. This edition better have English voices like stated, or there will be red flavoured X-mas for Amazon. Note: Don't know if this was covered, but the box is all in German, unlike picture on Amazon, where you can "clearly" see the content written in English. So for those of you who care about these things wait for an English CE if there will ever be one.

If it's the PC version, it's understandable.

It's better now, because after the first patch it finally supports my Logitech Dual Action controller.
The game still doesn't impress me that much, though. I guess I expected a bit more, that's all. Yes, I bought the PC version, but I doubt that my experience would be different on a console. It's the content, not the quality of the graphics or anything.

bought Prince of Persia: Sands of Time for the gamecube. Frankly I'm disappointed. The fighting comes down to button mashing, the platforming is like the old grid layouts of the PS1 tomb raiders, annoying camera angles, grainy looking cutscenes and the way the Prince runs just doesn't feel right. I think he should be moving faster.
Maybe I'll get Assassin's Creed or the new PoP for the PC in the near future. |
