MORE STUPIDITY!
CGW did some testing and concluded Starforce may indeed cause problems with certain optical drives, even leading to their destruction. When questioned about Starforce boycott and all the negative comments Starforce gets, their PR manager replied - wait for this - Quote:

is obviously sponsored by our competitors, organized crime groups, aliens, the masons, the templars, or the Bush administration.
We are now in close (some of us are sleeping with each other) coopreration with [US and Russian officials] investigating where the hell I put my keys.

This is rather disgusting behaviour by software, I've never heard of anything doing anything like this accept for malware*.
Starforce enforces DRM by instant reboot (without warning) *although Windows not being allowed to boot if you change certain hardware is close.

Someone accuses StarForce of being a worm, spreading across partitions, and even network drives.
Also agrees with the previous article posted, from CDFreak, that StarForce runs all the time, not just when games are run.
