Bastich, I also found that diary from Call of Cthulhu really disturbing. I'm fine with gore and such, but find suffering and exhibitions of power over victims especially disturbing. I'm a horror fan, but find Last house on the left and Irreversible very hard to watch (had to watch some of irreversible with the sound off).

As for DCotE, I just sold mine on ebay without finishing it. Shame, the game started really well, but just deteriated into a boring FPS.

What a tidy psychopath; he types his accounts on yellowing note-paper.

I hate to say it, but none of the pictures really gross me out. I can handle all the fake violence in movies and games, but the only thing that really grosses me out is the Discovery Health Channel.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. But with me it's not just Discovery Health - hospital shows in general gross me out a bit. I don't mind shooting a guy's head off or cutting his arms/legs off, but watching 'em perform surgery on ER or whatever.. ew.

I'm kinda desensitized to everything too, but I bet if I saw one of those in person my insides would flip.

The sickest game I've played recently has to be The White Chamber from Studio Trophis.

The screenshots on their web page don't hint at much of the gore. The one in the navigation console is typical of the early parts of the game, where it's obvious something nasty has happened around here.

At later points in the game you come across...
Spoiler:
1. A severed arm in the cupboard. This is the first real "ick" moment.
2. Eyes in a box.
3. A body in the cryogenic chamber that eventually breaks up and clogs the pipes.
4. Various other dismembered parts that you have to lug around and do things with.
5. A headless body crucified upside-down and chained to the wall next to a giant eyeball.
6. Someone who may or may not be dead, stuck to the wall by a sheet of mysterious stuff that may or may not be organic.
7. The eventual, final climax is confronting a corpse with its face torn off.

If none of this puts you off, I can heartily recommend the game. Very good game, and extremely well done for an independent effort. And it's free to download, so what more do you want?

I have that game!

Some of the Manhunt deaths were brutal, but they weren't really that disturbing.

I guess I'm gonna have to go back to the original Silent Hill, when you're in that alley during the dream and there is a carcass strung up on the chainlink fence and for some reason a bloody hospital gurney.

Oh and despite the main character being a wise-cracking vampire, the amount of dead bodies lying around in the game Blood was also quite gross.

OH OH, and the game WWII game Red Rochestra, even though it's an online FPS, it is realistically disturbing if you dive to the ground and find a limb of one of your teamates that copped a grenade or airstrike.

The only moment I just had to skip in a videogame was the Alien vs Predator 2 sequences filled with facehuggers. I just cannot take them.
