I got SH4 the week it was released, I really enjoyed it until around the half way mark then it gets a little repetitive. Plus the invincible ghosts are a pain in the arse.

Definitely, the sound is so freaky in those games!

I still need to play the 2nd, but the first was amazing, it really put the shits up me. It's terrifying staring at a disfigured ghost through a camera lens as it crawls down a corridor towards you.

Spoiler:
And the ghost of the woman that had her eyes gouged out by the ritual mask is freaky. "My eyyeees!!!!"

Sorry to get slightly off-topic, but how long do you think it'll be until the first price-drop? And how much will it be?

I would think it will take between a year and a year and a half, and it would be between 50-100 bucks. That's my guess.

They'll drop the price by next Christmas. I'd bet on it.

I bet they won't. What for? They won't have any competition until the PS3 or Revolution come out. You'll see a price drop of probably $50 - $100 by the time another system comes out

Take a look at this eBay auction for me.

http://cgi.ebay.com/XBOX-System-with...QQcmdZViewItem

The seller claims that there's nothing illegal about the auction but even someone as naive as me thinks that the 200GB hard drive that comes with the Xbox is loaded with pirated games. Am I right? Other than having pirated games installed, what good dose the hard drive do?

Well looking at wikipedia here is the history of last gen's console prices in N. America:

PS2
* US$299.99 (October 26, 2000, Launch Price)
* US$199.99 (May 19, 2002)
* US$179.99 (May 14, 2003)
* US$149.99 (May 11, 2004)

XBOX
* US$299 (November 15, 2001, Launch Price)
* US$199 (May 15, (2002)
* US$179 (May 14, (2003)
* US$149 (March 29, 2004)

If you notice, usually drop prices happen almost at the same time. I am expecting that the next 360 drop price will be whenever the PS3 launches which is most probably next Xmas in N America. That will also be a marketting punch against Sony by Microsoft.

If you see it before March 2007 I'll be surprised.

Man, I do hope PS 3 comes out sooner rather than later. I do not see Microsoft dropping price on xbox 360 until PS3 comes out.

From a business perspective, Microsoft is in the driving seat right now, and the more Sony holds off their next gen console, the better MS'es market lead. Also on average, the life cycle of a console is 5 years. So I would be shocked to see the PS3 not in store shelves by next christmas.

First off, modding is illegal. Has been since 97' I believe. And yes, those games were pirated. Notice the seller says that they don't violate ebays rules, but they don't say anything about law.

Also, don't modded Xbox stuff void the warranty?

Only a moron would buy that thing.

Considering that it can play copy games, some people would take that chance.

Even if prices for the xbox 360 don't drop by next Christmas, retailers will still be offering deals where you get free/cheap games and accessories when you buy it from them, just to get people in their stores.

The retail speak for that is "Loss leader"

It doesn't make sense but the margins on the Xbox aren't high to begin with.
