Here's the review of King Kong (the game) in the San Francisco Chronicle. It's an interesting read in that it talks about innovation in gaming as well.

Quote:

The biggest difference between video games and movies is the reluctance of the industry to allow game developers to take risks. Imagine a world where there were only three movies -- "Bloodsport," "Tora! Tora! Tora!" and "Starship Troopers." Now imagine that the only new movies in the marketplace are sequels to those films: "Bloodsport: The Return of Chong Li," "Tora! Tora! Tora! XI" and "Starship Troopers: San Andreas."

There are certainly some visionaries working in video game development. Tim Schafer's recent Psychonauts game and Lorne Lanning's Oddworld series prove that video gamemakers can bring a trickle of creativity to the industry. In Japan, a game designer such as Donkey Kong and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto already has Spielberg-level name recognition. And although Miyamoto is as sequel-prone as any human on Earth (I've counted more than 40 different Mario-related games), he's also constantly trying new things, such as the raise-your-own-pet phenomenon Nintendogs for the Nintendo DS, one of the most entertaining games released this year.

Most gamers know that while the graphics and sound get better in video games, the plots have remained secondary, which explains why almost every movie made from a video game is excruciating to watch.

I played the demo, and I love the graphics and the style of gameplay which is realism (no health bar, amo bar, etc.)

And playing as King Kong really makes you feel powerful, and I'm surprised they managed to fit in quite a few unique moves.

I love the puzzle elements to the game, how you use the food chain to distract a dinosour, and how you use the enviroment.

Ubisoft made a whoopsie. Hopefully Xbox Live! will sort out the issue via a patch - King Kong on the 360 is too dark to play on non-HD tellies!

Doh! Thats the problem with next gen consoles, you need a great Television to fully apprechiate the graphics. ;)

One of the issues mentioned in the IGN article ''Console vs. PC''
