PES5 is the best football game I've ever played. Dig deep enough and you'll discover the difference between PES5 is about as huge as between Dead Or Alive 2 and Virtua Fighter 4. FIFA being the DOA2.
For easier comparison, one is Gran Turismo the other is Burnout. The FPS way would be one is Half Life 2, the other is Serious Sam. Want me to do RPGs too? One is Baldurs Gate 2: Shadows of Amn, the other is Final Fantasy X. |

But, at the end of the day, it's a football game. And football is rubbish.

But nevertheless, this was a thread about Sensible Soccer coming back, and regardless if you like PES or FIFA, Sensi will be different from those. Thus we'll have a lot of people buying either FIFA and Sensi or PES and Sensi. Either way, you're gonna end up wanting Sensi in addition to FIFA or PES. |

Theres no way I'll be picking up Sensible soccer. The days of wacky banana bending shots from 40 yards with accurate after touch are over.
Pro Evolution (Winning 11) is the pinnacle of football simulation and thats it. Case closed. Along with Football manager, there isn't enough time to waste playing substandard football games. Unless you're still in college or university |

Well, that's all good for you, but do you really think there's no place for a more instant-fun pick-up-and-play football game on the market? I mean with FIFA and PES battling it out to accurately recreate the game on our screens, Sensible Soccer will be more about having plain fun. I'm a longtime PES fan, but I still play the original Sensi a lot more than you'd think. To have another Sensi game to sit besides PES for me to pick up and play is going to be great (if it's any good, which it has the potential for), and maybe we actually get a game that doesn't get a new edition every year, so it'll actually last longer.

Absolutely. Like I said, SS is the most playable soccer game of all time.. (right next to Nintendo World Cup, that is. )

You know, I've yet to try Nintendo World Cup... isn't this game so popular for all the wrong reasons? That's what I always thought. I should try it sometime soon, but I doubt it'll have the same effect on me now, as it has on those who played it back in the days.

What wrong reasons? It was one hell of a lot fun! Especially in multiplayer (2 players vs cpu or player vs player). And the super shots* were badass!

Emlyn Hughes International Soccer (on Zx Spectrum) was fun.
Kick Off 2 was great. Sensible Soccer was great. Sensible World of Soccer was greater. FIFA brought us realistic graphics. PES 5 has come closest to real-life game ball physics. But at the end of the day...................... Matchday II Rules! And EA thought they had finally got it right with FIFA Manager 2006 - but Football Manager 2006 walks all over it. We can see beyond the graphics, you fools!

I'd probably buy Sensible Soccer. As much as I love PES, it's a simulation and I would like a simple pick-up-and-play where I can control the characters unlike a lot of so called arcade footie games.

Oh, I must admit though. After trying Nintendo World Cup I can see why people felt attracted to it. I mean, it actually is a decent playable game and felt more like a International Soccer (C64) on steroids.
And this, however, made me even more curious on how Mario Smash Football will be. Could be quite fun, knowing Nintendos way of doing things. |

The best football/soccer game was Football Glory, by CroTeam, where you could beat the hell out of judge if you dissagreed with his rule I think you were able to hurt opponents as well.

Well, not beat the hell out of him, but you could run after him after giving you a red card to pull a sliding tackle on him.
And those little talk-bubbles were cute. But unfortunately it was a badly done Sensi clone. Physics were totally wacked, felt more like a ping-pong game than a football game. The best parts were running after the referee and skidmarks when you did a sliding tackle. |

Set for April release?
Jon Hare, designer and producer of the original Sensible Soccer series, here collaborates with Codemasters and developers Kuju Entertainment for the return of the long-standing soccer series. This revival plays up the fast action and wild multiplayer of the original series, now with 3D visuals and new aggressive new arcade-style gameplay. The game comes complete with lightning fast football action, physics defying sliding tackles and unbelievable goals that can go curling into the top corner thanks to the outrageous levels of after-touch. Visually, the game has a distinctive new graphical style, which includes cel-shaded players designed with the classic enlarged heads from the original for easy viewing of the fast-paced action.
