Al Emmo

Okay, I tried to be good and wait for someone else to bring it up but I just can't stand it anymore. :) Is no one else excited about this game?

Preview here.

I Am! ;)

UPtimist 04-08-2005 01:33 AM

Sure I am...

But didn't that character use to look way different?

fov 04-08-2005 08:53 AM

Which character? Do you mean Al?

This is a brand new game, not a remake. So they're not basing his appearance on any pre-existing Sierra characters.

Maquisard 04-08-2005 09:59 AM

He might've been thinking about Larry?

Nice preview btw! Looking forward to it. :P

UPtimist 04-08-2005 10:05 AM

Ah, I got mistaken. That just has the excactly same style as Rise of the Hidden Sun... And I was certain the maker of that had posted one of those backgrounds in AGS forums... :P

fov 04-08-2005 10:34 AM

Ah yes... Rattlesnake Jake is quite different from Al. :)

Actually, I'm not looking forwards to this game at all. It doesn't look/sound very interesting to me, and I'm such a big fan of the wild west theme... hypocritical though, I suppose, since I'm looking forwards to Rise of the Hidden Sun.

I keep getting these two games mixed up, especially who's making them and which one's going to be free and which one's going to cost money. Or are they both going to cost money....? Not that I wouldn't buy them, of course.

Al Emmo is going to cost money (but they haven't announced how much, yet). Well worth it, from what I've seen of the game so far. :) As far as I know, Rise of the Hidden Sun is going to be free.

Thanks for the link, Terramax. Good stuff. :)

I have to agree. Nothing I've seen about this game makes me excited. The only reason I'm interested at all is that it's written by Daniel Stacy, who wrote KQ2VGA+. Rise of the Hidden Sun looks far more intesresting.

Isn't everything in the game by the people who did KQ2VGA+? Because if it is, given that this remake is brilliant, then that's plenty enough reason to be expect much.

EDIT: 3000 posts. Gee, I feel old.

Yes, same team, same writer.

Jackal 11-22-2005 08:14 AM

To be fair, this is a game that's quite content to fly under the radar, so there hasn't been all that much to see yet. (Which explains its H-o-M absence, much to Emily's dismay. :D)

Even then, if old-school Sierra nostalgia isn't your idea of excitement, Al Emmo isn't likely to wind you up. But at the very least, with the team behind it, I think we can expect a super-solid game.

I don't know that being a Sierra fan is a prerequisite. It definitely has things in common with the Sierra games of the early 90s (like Freddy Pharkas, GK1 era) but there's a lot for non Sierra-junkies to like, too. At least I think so. Being a Sierra junkie myself, it's hard to know for sure.

Jackal 11-22-2005 08:23 AM

To like, yes. But get excited about ahead of time? Probably not. :)

EDIT: Also, you've seen a whole lot more of the game than the general public. :D

I know. Which is why people should take my word for it. :D

AGA 11-22-2005 10:05 AM

I saw a load of it too, at E3. It looks very promising.

Take BOTH our words for it!

eriq 11-22-2005 12:14 PM

It's going to be fantastic! ;)
