Default Using your own avatar

I'm not sure if this is a Site question, a Forum question or a Technical question. Could someone point me to where the site explains how to incorporate your own avatar? The file type and size required, how you add it in, if it needs to be located at a different url (I don't have one) or can be placed here?

I have an avatar from URU that I would like to use. Thanks for any help you can give.

http://forums.adventuregamers.com/profile.php?do=editavatar

That page lists the max size (right down the bottom). I'm presuming the file type will be the standard graphics types, but I've never added a custom one of my own.

Kero, as long as your av is 80x80 pixels per inch maxmimum you're fine. I strongly suggest uploading it instead of entering its URL from another site, because it's more stable that way (as the other site could go down for awhile and your av here would not load).

Last time I checked, avatars linked from off-site automatically get uploaded to the server, so they never technically link to off-site images. So they're just as stable as images you upload yourself.

Using your own avatar is a big mistake. Just look at mine. It's so distracting not even I can bear to read my posts.

It wasn't so bad when you showed us the little version - this is just too big, so it's distracting.

This isn't bigger, it's just showing a small segment of the animation I showed you before. Hmm, if I actually made the whole thing smaller, it might look better...Thanks FGM. Btw we need to cutify your name. Would you like mommsie, goddsie, fairsie? (That sounds an awful lot like Pharisee )

One of the funniest I've been called was when I was dealing with the indie developer who made Archipelago. I had signed my name, Marilyn, to an email, and not knowing which to call me, he called me FairyGodMarilyn - anyway if you want to call me Lynsie, after a nickname, it would sound better than any of those. I can start signing my name as Lyn, so that would make sense to people.

Lyn

Who said we wanted to make sense to people?

Just keep on signing only with "FGM", and that will be perfect - there's no better thing than playing Confuse A Newb.
