And Wormsie, where were you last night when all this frivolity was going on? You were definitely missed!

Maybe I Should Ask More Questions...
I had no idea there was a selection of avatars to choose from already on-site; I just assumed everyone here had posted their own "custom" ones, and since I didn't have the first clue how to do that, I have until just a moment ago remained avatar-less.
Now that I have a clue (well, just the one), there's a great picture I'd like to use for an avatar once I find it again. Until that time, I'll just use an avatar that kind of looks like me...if you stand way back...and squint...a lot. Well, we both have beards, dark eyes, and black hair at least.

D'you need help with your custom av? It's very simple to do yourself. Otherwise I can do it for you.

Thanks, Trepsie.
I'll probably need a little guidance once I find the photo I want to use, but I've got to find it first. By the way- Who is that guy I'm using now? What game is he from?

I wonder if the sky would actually turn black and the rivers turn to blood if The Adventure Company released a few of their more recent titles for Macs as well as PCs? "The Black Mirror" sounds intriguing.

If adv gamers are a niche market, how much more so are MAC adv gamers? I think you are only the third or fourth one I've seen in the forums. I feel sorry for you, as your choices are indeed limited.

That's the sole reason I crossed over to the dark side. Not enough of the games I wanted to play coming out for the Mac. This trend was happening long before the adventure genre "died" -- even in the mid 90s, many of Sierra's games weren't being ported to the Mac anymore (and those were the games I wanted to play).

Yeah, thank Heaven "thinking different", like virtue, is it's own reward because that's all you'll get for it.
On another forum there was a thread about "Mac Gaming", and I was shocked and dismayed by how many people perpetuate the "There are no games for Macs" self-fulfilling prophecy by using Macs for all aspects of their computing life, but also buying PCs just for gameplay. I tend to go the other direction: I make a point of asking for Macintosh versions of PC games at every retail outlet I visit, and I also buy any game whose CD or DVD is designed for use on both PC and Mac systems, whether that game interests me or not. This is not quite civil disobediance so much as it's "voting with my wallet", but in the long run, my method should be more effective. Now if I could just get more frustrated would-be Mac gamers to do the same...

I like to use the avatar I always use, when I have a choice, but for some reason I never uploaded it. Here goes.
Not that I didn't like using Manny Calavera as my avatar - but I like using a picture of my own, made from photograph. Shoot, not working. Oh good - successfully uploaded - now it's working! |

I'm so happy when people use the same avatar across boards... otherwise I tend to forget that I already "know" them.
