just wondering...

does AG do a mainstream awards thing as well? 'cause that would be really cool.

thanks, Ben. :)

Well, to make a long story short:

Spoiler:
No

To make a long story long, we actually did consider it for this year. But for a variety of reasons, we opted not to. Included in those reasons are:

1) Awards are staggerlingly clichéd (I mean, everyone does 'em! Including us for Underground! :o )
2) Not everyone (in fact, none of us) has played all eligible retail games, so we can't really do justice to all games released during the year.
3-10) A bunch of extremely insightful reasons that I can't think of right now

So as you can see, it's a pretty rock-solid case. :D

Seriously, though, if we do anything in future, it'll probably be more of a personalized AG-styled look at a year in review, rather than a straightforward awards deal. :)

You know, that's pretty much what I though when I saw the article in the main page.
So, if it's cliché, why are you doing it, especially shortly after the Inventory did... Not that your awards won't be zillions of time better, but still. :)

Why are we doing the Underground awards, you mean? Well, we started that last year, and it was an immensely popular feature. Plus it gives the indie games some nice exposure, and everyone involved in voting has access to all the games. :) We'll endure a little bit of cliché for the right reasons. It's just not as good as fit for the commercial titles.
