Default Hype-o-Meter Update 02/10

Ten Little Hype-o-Meter games...

Debuting on the H-o-M this month is And Then There Were None. Based on the Agatha Christie novel by the same name, this is an absolutely standout story about 10 visitors trapped on an island, growing in fear and paranoia as the murders begin, one by one. As we learn more about this title, don't be surprised to see its H-o-M competitors share a similar fate.

Plus, of course, we're as certain as you that the developers will be able to successfully produce a tense atmospheric thriller, after having done something similar with SpongeBob SquarePants... or wait, no... ... All right, so maybe that explains its #7 ranking. But still. Fingers are crossed.

BASS2 (still waiting for any sign of a pulse), Runaway 2 (we're impervious to the sight of Brian in a Guybrush costume), and Nibiru all slip slide a notch down the ladder. So many promising games, so few H-o-M slots.

Bidding adieu is Scratches, but though gone it's not forgotten. We still expect it to scare the living bejeebers out of us when its release date arrives.

Hey, Keepsake looks really good. So you tell me which one needs to go, Emily. And then feel the abuse.

BASS2. Hands down. It has plenty of time for hype later after Keepsake is released.

I'd tend to agree. I'd probably forget that BASS 2 was being made if it weren't for the Hype-O-Meter reminding me. It's not coming out for at least another year, and hyping too early invariably leads to OVER-hype, if that's possible with adventure games.

Over-hype? Of ADVENTURE games? Surely you jest.

I'd say get rid of BASS2, write the guys making it, and tell them: "C'mon people! Give us some shoogah!"

Aahh, my nefarious plan is working. People haven't even noticed that BASS2 is inching down the list, slowly but surely. 8-)

Yes, indeed, more than just overhype, as much as we'd all like to see a sequel, at some point it's time to read the writing on the wall. :eek: That time is fast approaching.

Ten little Hype-o-Meter games went out to dine;
One was garlic-intolerant and then there were nine.

Nine little Hype-o-Games sat up very late;
One fell into eternal dream and then there were eight.

Eight little Hype-o-Games discovered the lost heaven;
One said "no need to go back down there" and then there were seven.

Seven little Hype-o-Games learning hunting tricks;
One was taken for a pixel, and then there were six.

Six little Hype-o-Games picturing their life;
One's became tad too still and then there were five.

Five little Hype-o-Games researching the World War;
One got tired of backtracking and then there were four.

Four little Hype-o-Games visiting library;
An age-old book swallowed one and then there were three.

Three little Hype-o-Games walking in the zoo;
A giant bug chased one and then there were two.

Two little Hype-o-Games sitting in the sun;
One was not vigilant enough and then there was one.

One little Hype-o-Meter Game the devs got somehow done;
And all jaws dropped down in AWE at And Then There Were None!.

*runs, determined not to show on the forums for a month at least*
