I don't see your reluctance to putting a least a minimal list of acrnoymns, If you think it's too hard to update (takes about less time than to post a message) I can start up a site that has the info and then Adventure gamers can link to it.

It's not really up to me.

I was just trying to explain (apparently not very well) why I had objected to acronyms in the FAQ in the first place.

Plus, there are so many OTHER acronyms that people use. I was online for months before I got lol, np, brb, IMO, IMHO, TPTB (I still don't know if I have that one right . . . )--and there are others. (I hate IMO and IMHO by the way. It's obvious. Can we make it illegal to use these? )

As for acronyms in general, if they're lost, people can JUST ASK. If you don't get it, no one in this forum will yell at you--see SoccerDude's thing about why this forum is great. If anyone else wants to update a list, fine, but Emily probably has enough to do, like her life.

Actually, IMHO should be obliterated from existence, not just forum use. Whenever it's used, it invariably means the opposite.

Sorry... pet peeve of mine... returning to cave now.

Sure, they can. But more often than not, they don't, and it just puts them off. And if they did, the forums would be crawling with people asking about acronyms.

I do use acronyms occasionally, but the only four I use without referencing the game's name previously are TLJ, DOTT, CMI, and EMI.

If I use acronyms for another game, what I'll do is write the game's name out in full early on and then use an acronym for any subsequent references.

Even for Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.

I think I am going to dodge the whole issue by not even saying the name of games , just talk about them - it would add suspense and challenge to posting. !

I write names out in full the first time. And I italicise them. How cool am I???
