Default Zork GI review

What can I say? I agree with everything anyway...
So kudos for this excellent review.

Great review! Zork GI is one of my favorite games and I'm glad to see it's getting the recognition it deserves.

Excellent review, I was a newbie to the Zork world and got the 'setup' treatment exactly as described. That's one great game

Was it really that hard to give all 5 stars?

I loved this game so much, and agree whole-heartedly with the review. Only one omission. "Zork Zero" was the first Zork game to incorporate graphics. Sort of.

ZIMDOR!

Both game and review.
High time I replayed it, I'd forgotten all kinds of stuff that got mentioned in the review.

Excellent review! This was one of the 1st games I played. I recently did find the DVD version, so a replay is probably in order.

I replayed it recently (having bought it again, this time for ... 1€), and it felt as good the second time round that it did the first time.
(can't remember what Zimdor does, though)

PS: May I remind all Zork fans that next week Undergroundhog Day will be celebrated on Wands Day, Frobuary 2.

Can't remember this from ZGI... Is it in an earliest Zork? (haven't played those)

Still, I guess my kudos needed zimdoring.

4.5 of 5 is fine. I love the game and I'd give a 5/5 on my personal scale, but 4.5 is more than fair if it's taken apart objectively. The disc swapping really can wreck one's nerves, afterall.

And, oh, yes, stop reading this. Play the game.

No, it's from GI.

Spoiler:
You use zimdor to triple the mead for Harry.

I pity anyone who has never been eaten by a grue. I can't imagine what it's like to play GI without knowing the crazy Frobozzy underground world of Zork, because GI is filled to the brim with references to all the old games. But fortunately it appears to be just as enjoyable.

Since I seem to be the only one who hasn't played Zork, and so feel like the rest of you all are talking in code, I'll just say:

It is very enjoyable.
Plus I've played Return to Zork (a part of it) and Zork Nemesis before. And I have tried Zork, too, but I don't remember if it was before or after ZGI.

And I can't remember tripling, I though it was doubling instead, but then again, I played in french (great voices, BTW).

What?! Not played Zork? You're next in line to be totemized.

That's more like it. Clearly not an experienced spellcaster yet, but at least you're willing to learn.

I can only echo Jackal. Play ZGI, you won't regret it.

Thanks, gang. Glad to see others really liked the game, too.

And sorry for the 5/5 supporters. I honestly debated the final rating long and hard, and then flipped a zorkmid.

I agree that familiarity with Zork really adds to the experience, but it really isn't necessary. The game is very Zork-newbie-friendly, and just a great frickin' game, to boot.

Oh wait, I already said that.

Spoiler:
Also note that "progressive thinking" comes in many forms.

EDIT: Also, @DaveGilbert - dammit! Yeah, you're right, but I meant... like... aww, dammit!

Great review, Jack!!! 8-)
Reading the review was almost as much fun as the game itself!

This review has convinced me to buy ZGI. It's now in my adventure queue behind BS1. Thanks, Jack
