Default Bad Mojo banner

Is anyone else having issues with the animated Bad Mojo banner at the top of some pages on the site? If I page down while the animation is going, the banner "jumps" down with the rest of the page, covering up some of the text. The only way for me to get rid of it is to minimize and maximize my browser window, then wait for the 'Bad Mojo Redux' part of the ad (not animated) before I page down. This is on IE5 and Mac OS9 - I have not tried it on other browsers to see if the same problem occurs (but I can).

No offense to anyone or to advertisers, but I'm having issues with it because the combination of constant motion, weird green, and cockroaches really makes me sick. Like, spinning 360 in a node-based game with your speed settings on too high sick. (Sorry to say it, but the thread was here, and if you build a thread, they will come.)

Maybe could we make them navy blue?

I am on Safari now (OSX) and am no longer having that problem.

Beth, the banner is up at Gameboomers too and for the first several days it was making me feel nauseated. I'm not sure why because those roaches don't really look like roaches but it might have been the roaches plus the movement. I think I've become immune to it though. Someone pointed out to me that if you're on a PC you can right-click the banner and tell it not to loop - that will stop the movement (but I think only for that page view - if you go to a different page or refresh you'll have to do it again).

Huh? It's not supposed to do that.

It was happening to me today on IE5 (OS9). Did not have the problem with Safari in OSX, and didn't have a chance to try it out with IE on OSX (laptop is having problems so I'm back on my crappy OS9 machine at work temporarily).

It made the page kind of unreadable...

I tried it in both Firefox and IE running WinXP and it stays where it should for me.

Doug, it's happening on IE5 on OSX, too. Not on the main page, but on the review pages. (I don't have this problem with the same banner at Gameboomers.) Here's a screenshot.

And while we're on the subject - were you aware that the review template is a little screwy in IE5 on the Mac? The text under "Cons" and "Bottom-line" shows up much bigger than the text under "Pros." This is true in both OSes.

Man, I dunno. I've tried it on IE and Firefox on my pc at home, IE and firefox on my pc at work, and IE, Firefox, and Safari on a mac here at work, and I just can't reproduce the problem.

As far as the template thing, though, that's good to know. I'll fix it later tonight.

Did you change anything with the banner? It's not doing it now. It was on two different machines that I had the issue, yesterday afternoon on the old computer (OS9 G4 tower) and this morning on the new one (OSX iBook). I'm back on the old one now but the bugs have stopped following me.

(Maybe those roaches are trying to get me...)

I have witnessed a phenomena at work where, when I finally get an IT person to come look a problem, the problem has miraculously disappeared. That must be the case here!

ps Spoke too soon, it's following me again...
