Yep, same here. So it's not our machines!

Well, not the machines exactly, but it's clearly not a side-wide problem either. The trick is to identify what's causing the hang-ups on your particular systems.

I am quite sure we will never find out what it is. It just occurs too randomly. Aimless, what kind of machine do you have? I have a MacBook Pro on OSX 10.7.2 with Firefox 8.

Sorry I missed this earlier, tsa. I have a custom-built desktop running Windows 7, 64 bit and my main browser is Opera 11.52.

For the past few days I've experienced a lot of slowness here in the forums, which I'm not experiencing elsewhere. I use Safari most of the time, but have also had the same problem with Firefox.

I get errors in the browser's log, complaining that the server "design.adventuregamers.com" can't be found. I'm guessing this could be the culprit?

It might seem a bit of a stupid problem, but with the new layout I can't post a comment to an article, as I don't see any button to post it. I'm using IE 9 on a notebook with a 1366x768 resolution. Here's how it looks like:

Trumgottist, I'm so far from a tech it's laughable, but have you tried removing the 'design' part from the URL?

(Frasse and the Peas of Kejick is a hoot, btw.)

That won't help. It's two images in the forum template that erroneously refer to that address that need to change. You can't resolve that yourself, but even so they shouldn't cause a large delay to the page loading.

Haven't used IE in a while so I've got a moderately old edition (IE7) and Firefox 8 which is my normal browser. The Post Comment button is appearing on both fine (it should be appearing to the right of your name). I'm not using the exact same resolution as you but close enough that I can't see that being the problem. Have you tried the usual fixes of clearing cache and refreshing?

Yes, I tried cleaning cache and different resolutions, but with no luck. Maybe I'll try installing Firefox after all. Although it's a little odd if adventuregamers doesn't support IE.

Added: What do you know, the button works fine in Firefox Thanks for the tip! I guess I'm the only person left that uses IE today...

Well, from someone I know that writes webpages, it is apparently often necessary to put in code especially for the way IE handles things if you want everyone to be able to view it OK.

Glad you've got it working now.

Yep. I'm anything but an expert in these matters, but IE simply does some things differently than other browsers (not just Firefox), using different standards than most. Sometimes making things work in IE even means they're buggered in other browsers. So if it comes down to a choice, IE's the one left behind.

It's not like we're purposely ignoring IE, though.

I haven't used IE9 as yet (since I'm too wary of installing Vista service pack 2 after the last attempt crippled my laptop), but I'm sure that it has a compatibility view you could use that should make the site appear just as it does in IE8, where that comment button does work properly.

Today AG is acting horrible again. It took ages for me to reach this page. I wish that problem would go away!

I had problems for a while today, too. Main site as well. Probably the huge throng of people rushing to read our Top 100.
