Default Why are some members' avatars bigger than mine?

The reason I am asking is because I would like my pic bigger, if possible.

And oh yeah. No "size" jokes p-lease! LOL

It might help if you pointed out the ones that are larger for reference. As far as I can see, there are two ways that your picture could be made bigger.

Widen it - At the moment it is only 67 pixels wide. You are allowed an avatar up to 80 x 80. It is already 80 tall so you can only widen it based on the size criteria.

Simplify it - The criteria is 80 x 80 or 19.5kb whichever is smaller. So if you have a simpler avatar to meet the file size restriction, it can theoretically be larger. I've tested this with an extremely basic 100 x 100 avatar, but that appears to have been automatically restricted to 80 x 80 on the forum. Can you point out any larger ones showing up?

Nice signature quote you have there.

Thanks pal.

I thought the site would automatically set it to 80 by 80, though it never, but changing it myself to this size sorted it out.

And yep, thanks. One of many hilarious quotes from this fantastic forum.

You funny guy you!

"looks at sig again"

ROTFL!

The site will automatically reduce it to 80x80 if the original is larger than that. But it won't blow it up to 80x80 if it's smaller.

Glad you figured it out.

I'd hate to be a pain but, the thing is, the pic wasn't smaller, it was larger, a lot larger in fact.

If it was a lot larger, but taller than it was wide, that was probably the problem. The forum automatically reduced the picture so the largest dimension, height, was 80 pixels. Rather than distorting the picture the smaller dimension, width, was reduced in proportion.
