I like the smaller text, but if you *don't* then download a powerful browser like Mozilla, enhance it with an extension (search for "style" on the page), and ask Doug to make an alternate style-sheet for you. That way, nobody loses.

You could try the zoom functions in your browser to get bigger text.

I preffered the old quotes too actually, these new ones are too seperated, you might say. The size isn't the actual problem, I just liked the two HR borders on the top and bottom. Also, text was in bold and not in italics, which IMO makes it look better when it comes to quoting/citing ().

But anyway, if there'd be an option to choose the old style that'd be great.

The rest of the new design though (borders between messages and such) is great though, feels just like home. Too bad there's no more quote button, that can get confusing. Anyway, nice touch with the maps I also like the new word-style editor, makes things faster and yet still allows you to see the code used to create an effect. Perfect.

A suggestion: You could add a link to a vBcode reference, like what tags to use for strikethrough (there is one, right?) (took me a while to find this) etc. Something like this one (for AGS).
Of course, it should open in a new window, cause it's terrible to lose your whjole post to check a tag. I realise you have this (and your saints for opening it in a new window) but it's a bit limited. Expanding it to more options would do the trick

But that makes the main text bigger, too. (Not like I care, though, as I said.)

AHHHHHHHH!!!!
You are pure evil. You don't even deserve the scum of my shoe. To open links in new windows, right click (or if you're on a Mac, then it's like Ctrl+Click or something), and select Open in New Window. When you make a page that defaults to opening in new windows, those of us that *want* to open it in the same window have no choice.

(Well, with Moz I do, but that's another story. )

*I was exaggerating with that "pure evil" bit. You're fine.

Yes, but if the point was to see the actual quote better. But I guess that the original would be a better place to read it anyway.

Rofl! I always use the "Open in new window" option in the AGS forums cuse it opens in the same one. I am only talking about that particular reference link(which is there when you're writing a post), because if I click it normally it will open in the same window and after clicking back the post is gone. terribly annoying, especcially if I wrote a lot. I got frustrated several times when I clicked it normally without thinking . Of course, that's nothing compared to what my computer puts me throgh... lol.

So anyway, basically just add some more tags to the vBcode reference. Now, seeing that doesn't work to make a strikethrough, it's possible that the tags listed are actually the only tags available. Hmm..

edit: Another thing that I don't know if it's available in vBulletin is that when you quote a message that has a quote in it, the other quote is also quoted... *reads back* Err, never mind...

Quote:
you quote X
Quote:
and X quoted this
X again
it doesn't look very good here though.

I'm sure this new quoting system will grow on me, heh.

Ah. That indeed bugs me, too. Usually, I'll accidentally click something, and then hit Escape to stop it from loading ('cause it's quicker than moving the mouse to click Stop). However, in IE, "escape" is code for "ruin my life," so that it clears the box when I hit Esc.

My solution? I downloaded Mozilla. Escape doesn't ruin my life, and I can move forward and backward without losing my text. Thank you, Mozilla!

Still spreading your Mozilla propaganda i see.
Ok, I'll think about it, but the text IS readable (I'm not that blind) so it's not that bad.

I always wondered why most forums stretches the witdh of the complete page if 1 person posts a width post (i.e. a large image) and not just that 1 post only... So annoying...

It's the way <table>s work. They're meant to work like spreadsheets -- where all the cells in a column line up. It seemed like a logical fit, in terms of form -- it's a table of stuff -- but it ran into the flaw you mentioned, plus tables were horrendously slow to render in Netscape 4, so newer message boards have stopped displaying threads as tables, and hence the widening only happens to a single post.

I know how HTML works... But I know a forum (no use in redirecting you there, you must register in order to be able to see it and mostly Dutch too... ) that only stretches the one width post... and I wondered/suggested why the other forum (programmers) don't do that...

The old version of vB used to do that. My guess is that it takes longer to render that way, but my other guess is that they wouldn't be running into these problems if they jumped headlong into XHTML.

Netscape, in short, is a re-branding of Mozilla, with some other stuff tied in (like "Netscape" AOL Instant Messenger), that just makes it bloatier than it needs to be. Mozilla, OTOH, means business.
