Who thinks it sucks that we have to join again?
Right isn't it just a tad lame that we have to go through the bother of signing up and everything again (a bit late now). I know marek & co. try their best but keep having to move to other sites, to re-sign up is tearing this place apart. When we changed over to the new forums before all the accounts stayed the same.
Okay so you lost the site, but that happened last time too? Plus you've got all the old posts in a temporary forum so why not the members?? I made a post about this in the lucas arts AG forum shortly before this place opened and the old one went down *sob* |

The temporary forum is hosted at lucasforums.com, which hosts forums for mojo, gfn, and dozens of other sites. The problem is, the vast majority of their users are not from the AG forums, and so importing their whole user table would be so wasteful it's not even funny. Is it *really* that much of a hassle to re-register? Besides, this way you have a much cooler low userid

Actually we do not have "all the old threads" at the temporary forum like you said. We could have tried to recover the user accounts from like 8 months ago but that would have contained lots of outdated stats, not to mention it would confuse the heck out of everyone.
I know this sucks. Really, I do. And I @^&$# hate being a victim of yet another server problem. If it makes you feel any better, we now have automatic weekly backups running, along with monthly manual ones (we just can't trust the ISP to do this anymore), and we're making a sort of disaster document with plans for anything that might happen to the site. As far as I'm concerned, this is going to be the last time you'll ever have to register again. Edit: Oops, I see Doug replied. What he said, too... |

Well, they're obviously just doing it to inconvenience you. ¬
The temp forum was part of LucasForums which has nearly 60,000 members - getting the members who posted there into a new database would be a nightmare and most likely illegal as it involves people's passwords and personal information. EDIT: Shut up, nobody had replied when I started writing. >: |

From the one side, when u just c it, its like-oh hell, reregister again?
But from the other hand- oh well, not many work it is. Besides, Top 20 is now empty. An opportunity for newcomers. |

Why do we have post counts now? Did you intentionally change that back, or what?
The reason I'm asking is that I'm afraid Moss will crash the Forum again in a couple of days if we have to display his post count every single time he posts.... |

Well, you obviously registered before posting, so it can't have been TOO much trouble. Honestly, it took about 60 seconds, and it's not as if it happens every day. I'm just glad everything's up and running again

I didn't mind re-registering at all, as this means I get to be just plain Claire, instead of OriginalClaire or Claire2003 or something lame like that It's great to be back online - there sure is no place like home!

I'm just glad that the forums are back, this time hopefully for good. The re-registering process was pretty painless, to be fair guys. Besides, it also means my prolonged absences now count for nothing as we have a "tabala rasa." Good call on the new version of the forum software as well, it seems excellent. Onward with the good ship Adventure Gamers!

I didn't think it was a problem to re-register. Some people must always exaggerate.
