New Forum Software

I've upgraded the forums to vBulletin3 Release Candidate 2. If anyone runs into any bugs, please reply to this thread and let me know.

Welll, it still looks very familiar, although there are some new options and the layout has been changed in some places.

Only one question: Can we keep our old smileys?

BacardiJim 01-08-2004 08:16 PM

Damn! I still can't put my AGP card in my sig.

Done.

Btw, I'm using the 'legacy' layout for the forum because I kind of prefer it to the new style. The new style looks like this: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=91203

What do you do to mark all threads as read? I can't see it easily available...

And what does the ckeckmark and the exclamation point icons mean?

EDIT: Oooooh, I see... Those quicklinks are going to come in handy.... *D

BacardiJim 01-08-2004 08:38 PM

"Mark Forums Read" is under Quick Links.

[EDIT: Never mind. hehe]

Yeah, the interface has really been cleaned up in the new design. I love the DHTML menus (which is unusual. Normally I hate that kind of thing). Try clicking a person's name next to their post :)

Yah, I bet Marek will not approve of the said cheese...

Kingzjester 01-08-2004 09:05 PM

Is it just me or are the fonts unamendably hugish?

Royal Fool 01-08-2004 09:18 PM

Goodness! DHTML that actually works properly in Opera. That's a rare sight these days.

Actually, he liked it in our test installation :)

The fact that Opera can fake its UA string doesn't help. I'm sure more people would make an effort to make stuff Opera-Compatible if Opera didn't claim it was IE half the time.

I think some of the theme needs a little bit of tweaking still, but I'm sure Marek will deal with it over the next couple days. For instance the sort of light grey area that encompasses this form has a cheezy bevel effect that I find kind of gross, as nitpicky as that may be :) Also I miss the three or four color mountain range/maps in the backgrounds of the title bars but I'm sure everyone misses those
:)

I like the bevel :p

And yeah, I'll get the map images back in.

Erwin_Br 01-08-2004 11:52 PM

Great, we're allowed to nitpick?

Okay, I think those brown buttons (new post, edit, reply etc.) look out of place. Oh, and those blue arrows (http://forums.adventuregamers.com/im...lapse_tcat.gif) aren't exactly fitting but that's obvious.

:D

Yeah, I'm doing the best I can with the images. Right now the best I can do is to hue-shift the stock buttons, and that brown is as good as it gets right now.

You could've made them greyscale first, and then hue-shift -em. Gives better results.

Okay, okay, I'll stop bugging now ;) :P
