The day websites can change your monitor resolution (at which point they can probably format your hard drive as well), I'll make a site that switches the resolution constantly. It would probably do some lovely things to your monitor and cause epileptic seizures.

The new features are nice but am I the only one who finds it washed out of colour? Everything looks very brown; I'm sure there were more yellows and even some purples before?

But the features are great and the layout is good too, well done ags...

Same here, the colors look kinda off.

I'll agree that colours look somewhat paler.
Also, is it my imagination or did the resolution changed (this one is a question, not a complaint - it's just the font seems kind of smaller)? Other than that, the differences are not huge, although the old layout was more cosy*.

* Don't ask why. I couldn't explain. I just got used to it probably. *sniff* Don't worry... it will pass...

The DHTML menus don't work in IE 6.0. Clicking the link leads to the Profile page. Also, pasting my reply in chit-chat:

I hate the new format, but looks like I'm the only one. Apart from a vague overall dislike, my specific complaints are that the colour of the envolopes near read and unread posts are practically the same now .. almost undistinguishable. And in the last lot of changes, your choice in a poll was marked with an asterisk on your screen. That's gone now and is a change for the worse, IMO. Just noticed: there's *always* been a link to the forum you're currently visiting just above the next/previous thread links. That's gone now. That's a real pain in the arse.

PS. 'Thread Tools' and 'Search This Thread' at the beginning of a thread don't work. They just take you to the bottom of a page.

I think your choices are marked with italics now, Tamara.

Yeah, that will be the day when Old Man Murray will blow up your monitor.

Click here if you don't get the reference.

Nope, you're definitely not the only one... I thought the colour in my monitor was on the blink when I first loaded the page!

A few of the layout bits seem a bit weird - why are the 'Additional Options' underneath the 'Submit' button, for instance? The quotes are a bit too big too...

Hmm, hopefully it's rather premature to be moaning - it's only the first day after all! Also, the DHTML menus work for me in IE6 - maybe you've somehow got all that stuff turned off? Apart from all that, Tabacco, good job. (Wouldn't want you to think your efforts are not appreciated, after all)

Hah! Classic! I make a remark about it everytime I pass the [marked down, impossible to sell] pile of them at the games store

No DHTML menus for me either. I am on a mac using IE 5.1

Also the smilies don't all fit in their box on the reply page -- dunno if it's just my browser or what. The third row of smilies (starting with the sad face and ending with Spam) are outside of the Smilies / Message boxes. Not really an issue because you can still click on them.

I'm not exactly sure what's different with the icons (maybe that they're grayscale?), but it's harder for me to tell now if a thread has a new response since the last time I read it. The new threads are bold and do have the envelope-with-mail icon next to it, so I'm not sure why I'm having trouble with it.

Otherwise it's looking mighty nice.

Precisely my opinion.

Some other thoughts:
  • Why are there two lines in the thread listing, one for the thread name and one for the thread starter. Why can't that be on one line. It takes up too much space this way.
  • I want the yellow colour back on the threads with new information.
  • I can't pin down anything specific, but things seem to take up more space than they did before.
  • I still don't want AM/PM, but 24-hour system.

I'll add things as I find them.

The colour is definitely more washed out, Dom and others are right. I'm not so keen but can live with it.

What I dislike with the new change is the OLD method of typing in italic, bold, etc. The new forum originally had a feature that allowed clicking on the I or others and they would be inserted into the text at the point I chose, which was great. Now we're back to the old method of a box popping up every time, unless I'm doing something wrong.

Can this be changed back or is it not available in this version?

You can select part of your text before clicking the button, and the tags will be wrapped around it, like in a word processor. It's quite cunning.

I clearly need to experiment. Thanks Huz.

Yeah and we should know, it comes from living in a grey country... you learn to appreciate what little colour there is

Curt: Change your settings from guided to enhanced (just over the window in which you are typing your replies).

Ahhh! Ok, thanks AFG........

Btw, I love the fact that the page goes to Black and White when I log out. That's a really cool touch. (I'm not one to use the word cool lightly - unless it's decidedly not warm but not really cold. You know what I mean.)

DHTML menus are working now.

I have one BIG new issue though in that there aren't next/previous thread links at the *top* of a thread anymore. For someone who browses all the threads in a forum in order this is pretty inconvenient when you want to skip past a long thread you're not interested in.
