Flaming torch vs non-flaming torch

I've noticed that under people's avatars there is a torch. For some (like me) it is lit, and for others it is not. What does this mean?

UPtimist 05-24-2006 07:54 AM

Move your mouse over it and voilá!

Spoiler:
It's about who's online and who's not.

Katran 05-24-2006 07:56 AM

Thanks. With the browser I use I just get a blank box when I scroll over anything like that, so thanks for the spoiler explanation.

UPtimist 05-24-2006 07:59 AM

:) Ah, well, no problem :P

Katran 05-24-2006 03:08 PM

Now, what's the exclamation point in the triangle under your avatar?

artwking4 05-24-2006 03:24 PM

It says "Report Bad Post", probably for stuff like spam, flaming, illegal activity, or evil-hate posts and such.

Not for use with poor spelling and grammar, though.

Katran 05-24-2006 05:13 PM

Ah, that would explain why everyone but me (when I look at it) has one. Obviously I wouldn't report myself.

What browser to you use?

Katran 05-25-2006 03:23 PM

Mozilla Firefox. I noticed ever since I switched to it that on some websites the pop-up boxes are blank, but I've been too lazy to try and figure out why. I'm sure it's just something in my settings that needs to be changed.

Panthera 05-25-2006 03:33 PM

I haven't done anything with my settings in Firefox, and I get the text..

Melanie68 05-25-2006 03:43 PM

Katran,

Go to Tools and then go to Options and under Content make sure that Enable Javascript is checked. I unchecked mine and I couldn't see the box. Hopefully that helps. :)

Katran 05-25-2006 04:44 PM

Nope, Javascript is already enabled.

tabacco 05-25-2006 05:29 PM

that shouldn't be a javascript thing, I believe those are just standard alt attributes. weird that they don't show up.

Katran 05-26-2006 05:18 AM

I'm sure it's just some setting on my browser that I need to change, because if I use Internet Explorer everything works just fine (except that I get a ton of spyware and popups and adware that I don't get with Mozilla).

Jackal 05-26-2006 07:05 AM

You certainly shouldn't be getting any of those at AG. Or did you just mean you get them in general when browsing with IE?

Katran 05-26-2006 11:07 AM

In general. I was getting viruses up the wazoo, along with the other things I mentioned. A couple of friends and family members who had Mozilla mentioned that they didn't have those problems, so I switched and it has been a lot better since.
