Be happy guys, another forum I visit only lets you edit your post in the 5 minutes after you posted it first.

I am probably not correct. Wouldn't be the first time. But if this venue is similar to others I belong to, the ability to edit is based on whether or not a posting has received a response.

I.e., you can edit a post all you want. But once it has received a response, only the mods can edit a post on your behalf.

Strange, because the message you replied to now appears uneditable on my screen.

Strange indeed. Works for most people, it would seem.

Why exactly is there a time limit for editing?
There wasn't one before, was it (I remember fixing some spelling mistakes in old revived threads, for example)? And if there wasn't, was that a problem (or did it cause some problems)?

There was a time limit before and I'm still clueless as to how long it was/is.

... I'm pretty sure I was able to edit some old posts. By which I mean months old, and maybe more.

It [theoretically] prevents people from doing stupid things like posting nekkid pics of themselves playing with stuffed animals while incredibly drunk and/or stoned. Just the thought of thousands of online strangers seeing you that way should be enough to shame you into never actually trying to do it.

....unless you're into that stuff...... ........eiw. Thank god for mods.

Well, I can't help it if I like my stuffed animals, can I?

Erm, you're trying to trick me into off-topicing this thread, aren't you?

I was just about to post something like:

"It's a shame this thread is still here! It should be moved in Chit Chat!".

Thanks a lot for stealing all my fun...
